democrats acuse those with opinons to be racist

The Greenroom Forum Archive Democrats, Joe Wilson, Maureen Dowd, and the “R” Word

This is a horrible presidence to set. How is someone racist if they disagree? Isnt that what we have freedom of speech? to be quite honest it makes me mad.

Remember it's only racist if you are white.

I know it is flippin retarded. If people dont want racism to be an issue why do they keep on bringing it up with comments that obviously hold no value of racism.

Ahh while we never had accusations of racism (since a large majority of folks on the Hill are white and you can't really be racist of your own race), this is what the two sides do to each other.

This is no different than the wide right claiming that anti war protesters hate America. I can recall pundits on Fox News saying how people should just distance themselves from these "extremist protesters" and how despicable they were...but the recent protests in DC, the same said pundits called them heros and patriots.

The lesson here? Fanboys (or girls or whatever) of both sides are just like fanboys of any other object.......flipping retarded.

Joe Wilson is far from racist, in most accounts (by most I basically mean all), those who know him didn't really agree with what he did, but admit that it was completely out of character for an otherwise courtesy, intellectual man.

For the record, his shout "You lie", while uncalled for, did show his concerns about how the current language in the bill would make it difficult to enforce and ensure to the best of the gov't's ability that illegal's do not abuse the system (it's clearly impossible to prevent 100% of cases).

Joe Wilson would know a thing or two about immigration matters...he was, after all, an immigration lawyer.

Not trying to defend his actions at all as, while I don't think his actions were racists I thought they were very disrespectful...he obviously did too since he was very quick to apologize.

It's a shame, America is so hooked on sound bites and condensing very complex issues into quick speeches and summaries, even if he were to sound off on his concerns (which I'm sure if we heard them out, be it a op-ed, press conference, whatever, would be valid), the democrats could easily discredit him because of those two words he shouted.

God I love the two party system.

I dont agree with your comparison at all. the war topic would not revive an era of disturbing events. such as racism claims will do no more then aggravate an old era to possibly become a current era again. Just my opinion

I haven't heard anyone calling Wilson a racist. I don't think there is any way you could make that out to be racist.

Ok....I see one article, I think it is a little rediculous that they judge democrats as a whole based on this one womens article.

you know how women like to overdramatize things. She's at a 10 while she needs to be at a 2.

Wilson shoulda added some @#$@ in his disruption, that would've put him down more firmly in history as one of the greatest hecklers of ALL TIME, right under the shoe throwing guy.

"YOU !@#@!$@$G LIE YOU @#$#@$@$#ER!!!"

people want simple, easy and quick.

They want faster cars, cellphones that have every bell and wistle, they want and think they deserve everything now etc etc. Most are too busy spending money to bother with learning about politics or staying healthy. It is much more simple to eat a bag of chips and expect the govt to give you healthcare.

Your opinion doesn't really make much sense to me....you think we'll have Jim Crow laws return again or something?

The comparison I've but forth holds true still. It is no different than denouncing the anti-war protesters. At one point, wide right folks began looking at them as terrorists themselves and hating America...yeah that's much better than bringing up racism.

**** Cheney already has done that...and it was awesome.

I believe the quote was "Go f*** yourself" when a Senator asked him about the large contracts being awarded to Halliburton over in Iraq.

I think Jimmy Carter is throwing out the racism bit too...not like anyone really cares about what Jimmy Carter thinks, but it's all a ploy to get democrats riled up. Democrats think Republicans are racist...Republicans think Obama is an upcoming nazi. This is what politics has dumbed down to. I guess they're trying to reach out to the MTV crowd or something.

No there isn't. There's a libertarian who's name is Glenn Beck.

He's also Mormon...I'm sure if most of his listeners even knew that, they'd stop listening to him.

I am mormon does that mean people should start ignoring me? And what the hell is wrong with being a mormon? The mormons use to have multiple wives and so do many other religions. big deal and they dont do it anymore. The cathlics had child rapers. but they apologized for it. The muslims have murdered for virgins in heaven. But not all of them are extremists like that. The non believers want to make it illegal for others to practice in public because it offends them????? and that offends me so I guess someone is always mad.

my point is religion can all be a little bad. No reason to make fun for one believe cause all can be made fun of. So please leave the mormons out of it. They are good people (REAL GOOD PEOPLE FOR THE MOST PART)

Most of his listeners are neo-cons...which are predominantly hardcore christians...and you saw what they did to Mitt Romney....repeatedly had him explain his views and religious beliefs as if it was relevant for a Presidential bid.

I have friends who are Mormon so I've nothing against them. Plus Steve Young is badass.
