8 yr old boy "confesses" to killing Dad and friend

This kind of crap really pisses me off. Police interrogate the boy in a room all by himself for an hour. No adult/lawer, etc to help the boy.

Here is the story:
Experts: Interrogation of boy, 8, 'out of bounds' - CNN.com

Quote:
The third-grader's legs dangle at times from an overstuffed chair as he answers the questions of two female police officers. His manner and voice are casual, even helpful, but his words are shocking.
Police say an 8-year-old boy confessed to murder. Legal analysts say the questioning crossed the line.

And so, legal analysts say, were the methods police used to obtain them.

By the time the boy was finished talking, say police in St. Johns, Arizona, he'd confessed to a premeditated double murder.

The 8-year-old is charged in juvenile court with killing his father, Vincent Romero, 29, along with Tim Romans, 39, a man who rented a room in Romero's home. Police have said the boy confessed to shooting the men. He has not entered a plea but is due back in court later Wednesday.

Legal analysts who spoke with CNN were united in their opinion that the police questioning was improper and that any incriminating statements the boy made shouldn't stand up in court.

That is pretty messed up that they didn't have a lawyer or gaurdian in the room at the time. It says they read him his rights, but what 8-year old is going to understand that?

I also find it highly dissapointing that they've released this video. Besides the courtroom, shouldn't these videos be kept private?

He told his story, then the cops kept saying he was lying, and that they had someone who knew he did it. Those are the interrogation tactics they used on the poor kid. You keep drilling that into a child's brain, don't you think he'll say anything just to get out of there?

The kid shot his dad... do we really care how they made him say "I shot my dad"? shouldn't we be happy they actually caught someone this time ?

This is ******* bull****, no 8 year old child has the mentality to stand up to an interrogation bye police officers. I think the child should be looked at by a good psychiatrist and let it go from their. The boy may not even posses the mentality for cold blooded murder.

I think this could turn into the police embarrassing themselves because they could not prove the murder with physical evidence.

P.S. thank god for spell check!

how do we know that he actually shot his dad? the point was that his confession was obtained by questionable practices. i've been questioned by police when i was 14, and i sure as hell was nervous and not thinking straight. this kid was 8!
