New Car

Hey guys,

I got into an accident, so it's time for a new car. with the way gas is going, and an engagement coming my way soon, what do u guys think of the hybrid? it would be a far cry from the Si, and I am not going back to my backups being a mustang (16mgp, rusty number 1) and an old chevy truck (rusty II). does anyone have the hybrid? do you like it?

Research. It'll take you like 100,000+ miles to pay back the extra cost of a hybrid

Get an EX-L and be happy, Spencer.

For now, I only truly recommend hybrids to those who WANT to be greener. If it's an effort to save gas, then I say just get the base stuff.

I agree that hybrids really aren't economically viable right now.
Even with gas prices as high as they are, the initial price difference of a hybrid vs a base model R18 is so high that it will take forever to make that cost back in gas saved.

The EX is where it's at right now if you're looking for something "green" unless you want to step into the world of "Smart Cars" for an extra 10 mpg or so.

The Si's gas mileage isn't too bad so I would seriously say stay with that unless you're a really gas concerning type person. If so, I would say get a Fit Sport. I have a Fit Sport 5 speed and it's very good on gas. If this isn't the way you would like to go, just get a base model civic and save some money compared to the hybrid. The technology is there but i've noticed that many dealerships in my area do not have the techs to perform specific work on the car since hybrids are new technology and not many techs have trained for that line of work. You could always get you the Fit and a honda shadow... Just me thinking out loud.
