I hate when people post those GRM results. They are soo F'd.. .

They shouldn't even have tested the Dunlop b/c it's not even the same size as the others 195/55 vs 205/50. It's taller 23.5 vs 23.1 and less wide.. . A taller tire on a 98hp car is going to have a huge impact not to mention if the section wides are smaller = less grip than a close competitor.

There is no way, no how a RT615 is going to keep up with a Dunlop SS used on a 235/45/17 on a stock EVO at Auto X. On a road course you'd likely see a 2 second a lap difference on a 1:30 course. They are that much better, especially after a few laps.

I deleted the GRM results so people don't get butt hurt. Sheesh! This is what people get for trying to give some input.

I'm an Engineer and I know how to perform a proper DOE (Design Of Experiement). They didn't even come close to an acceptable one by my standards.

The only thing they proved is
1.) Kuhmo XS means business and will work on a LIGHT FWD car just as good as the RE-11

2.) Dunlop is retarded for not coming out with a 205/50/15. I said the same thing about RE-01R when they had only a 195/55/15 as well.

3.) yet another tire giant (Dunlop) chooses to not build a 205/50/15 so this must mean something.. . 205/50/15s are not a popular size when considering the car industry as a whole. The older cars are fading away. Focus is more on 17" sizes as we now see more Sport tires coming in more sizes. Or the marketing person just f'd up.. .

I think the best looking tread faces are held hands down by Toyo's R888, Proxes 4. I'm biased to then though. I don't like the T1R it sacraficed overall traction for sales. They added a square tread block on the outside shoulders to make it quiter.
I had a set of the T1S's on my other car and you could hear the tire gushing water out when driving through a deep puddle. It was awsome to feel like your car was digging for traction.

Lots of nice looking tires. But what do you need and what works best for what you need. In my case, the Dunlop Direzza Star Specs are doing well.

I have RE70s on my BBS wheels. They are a hot tire. Peeps that don't know better look at them from the side and think they are race tires b/c of the lack of tread blocking shown. At the stop light, I see people doing double takes just b/c of the tires (so I think), the STI BBS wheels aint that special.. .

I loved the pilot exalto pe2s that were on my car last year. Has anyone read the new article in car and driver? The one where they are trying to find a good performance tire bargain...great read.

Tread rating essentially means nothing in terms of real world wear and tear. Not to knock those KDW2s as I have yet to try them and I've heard tons of praise. But for the price of KDW2s, RE760 are the clear winner with S.drives a close second.

treadwear does tend to show how soft they are.. (in comparative to tires in their own line up)

It should give you an idea, but tread ratings are graded by driving the tires 7,200 miles down a circle loop. Worse yet, these tests are conducted by the tire manufacturer themselves! Driving in a huge circle for 7,200 miles does not really simulate the stop and go traffic in real world settings. It also does not take aggressive vs passive driving into considertation. Lastly, a higher tread rated tire will likely sell better than a competing tire will a lower tread rating. This gives manufacturers a reason to fib or be very very optimistic with their product.
Now I'm not saying tread ratings do nothing, I'm just saying that there is a high probability of unreliable ratings and therefore they should be taken with a heavy heavy bucket full of salt.

Are you guys seriously debating which tire looks the best? Who gives a **** how it looks, it's all about grip.

Advan Neova AD08's are the best street tire out there.

If you can't afford them Dunlop Direzza Star Specs are a close 2nd.
