the reason they recommend that size (215 45 17)is it keeps the the same diameter as the stock tires. i believe that it would be fine to use that tire with the tpms but your speddo will be reading incorrectly.

No; going to a lower profile tire will not hurt the TPMS, the guy mounting the tire on the rim might because the lower they are the harder they are to put on.
Any tire manufacturer has their specs listed, you just have to find what works for you, I wanted maximum grip and 100% Speed Accuracy. http://www.bridgestonetire.com/tires...Specifications Stock tire: Bridgestone Turanza EL400 or Goodyear GSA Size: P205/55R16 89H Approved Rim: 5.5" -7.5" Measured Rim: 6.5" Overall Tire Diameter: 25.0 " Section Width: 8.3" RPM: 833 (Revolutions Per Mile) BFGoodrich Tires | g-Force? Sport | Tire Sizes & Specs I went with BFG G-Sports Size: P225/45R17" 91W Approved Rim: 7.0" - 8.5" Measured Rim: 7.5" Overall Tire Diameter: 25.0" Section Width: 8.9" RPM: 833 (Revolutions Per Mile)

I am running 215/45/17 and using the stock tpms sensors. I wouldn't recommend running 40s though, because your speedo will be off big time. The tpms sensors should be fine but not all wheels support them. Also, if possible, try to limit the weight of your wheels to 19-20 lbs. Anything heavier and you'll only be buying wheels for looks.
Edit: I forgot to mention, if you run 40s, be prepared to put a drop on it, because the gap between wheel and fender will be huge. Just my .02 Last edited by leftturney; 06-23-2008 at 12:10 PM. Reason: updated info |

When I changed tires on my Wrangler from 29" to 33", I changed the Speed Sensor Gear, but I havent seen anything like that for these cars. |
