Anyone interested in some Autocrossing in San Antonio?
EDIT: I won't be going since I'm selling my car...I kind of feel stupid going if I'm going to be selling my car
SASCA is having an event on the 18th of May at the ATT center. It costs 25 if you register online. You'll have to also send your proof of insurance to race. Also, leave your floor mats at home and any loose objects in the car at home...you can't race with any thing moving around in the car. They have loner helmets if you don't have one yourself. They will inspect your car when you get there (have to before you race...takes like 2 minutes). Bring water, maybe even food and some sunscreen. Sometimes you have enough time before the runs to go get some food, but not always. The way it works...usually there can be anywhere from 30-50 cars that day. They have 4 runs. So lets say there are 40 cars that show up. 20 cars will run in the 1st and 3rd Runs (for each run, a drive will get to go 4 times...so 8 total). If you ran your car in the 1st and 3rd Runs, you end up "working" in the 2nd and 4th...work would be watching drives go through the track and pick up a cone and put it back if they hit it, or radio in that they went through a turn wrong....knocking cones out counts off on your times. The track usually limits you to about 50mph...sometimes upper 60mphs. It's a lot of fun! http://www.sasportscar.com/forum/cal.asp?date=5/18/2008 SASCA Autocross #5 @ AT&T Center The AT&T Center is located at #1 SBC Center, San Antonio, TX, 78219 Setup starts at 7:00 AM Registration opens at 7:30 AM Late registration begins at 8:30 AM (additional $10 if you arrive late) Novice Walkthrough at 9:00 AM (shows newbies how to autox) Driver's meeting at 9:30 AM (go over quick rules) First Car out at 10:00 AM Usually ends around 4-5pm. NOTE: NO MEMBER DISCOUNTS FOR WALK UP REGISTRATION! Register online at DLB Racing Calendar When you register on dlb you might get confused as to what class if you've never done this. I'm GS since I'm stock. If you have i/h/e (one or any combo) you would more than likely be STS After you register, send proof of insurance to sasca@swbell.net Overview Map to the site: http://www.mindspring.com/~eharloe/s...Directions.jpg Map for entering the AT&T Complex: http://www.mindspring.com/~eharloe/s...Directions.jpg example of track setup ![]() Here's a pic from one time I went...when we used to go to the Alamo dome for the races ![]() Last edited by 02SilverSiHB; 05-03-2008 at 12:10 AM. |

And tires are definitely a big deal...these summer michelins are not great at all...only a tad gripper than the all-weather ones. I just wanted to at least go once to see how the FA5 does out there. yeah, no kidding. I know that saying |

yokohama's S-drive seriously theyre great traction and wet wheather=weather.... Just drove them in the deep rain from the thunderstorm 2 nights ago and didnt hydroplane once, thats far more than i can say for my old Kuhmo-peice-o-#%@$ tires. I can probably get em for 440 for u for tires in 215/45/17 Just let me know if u need to still spend less i can get u some nitto neo gens for 340ish
