If you're talking about Vandergriff you are screwed... the service dept there is TERRIBLE and so are the mechanics.

Well I got my car back from the shop the same that i got it.. Well it seems like they fixed the problem.... The guy told me that there is an update on the transmission fluid that the 06 civic si is running on... So anyways the guy told me that American Honda passed this update.. So yeah Im very satisfied with Vandergriff... Great service.

I'm glad to hear good things about Vandergriff. It's right down the road from me so it's good to know someone has had a good experience there. I've bought a few parts from there but haven't taken my car to get worked on. Insurance or your warranty cover the 3rd gear issue?

Its ok to get it documented but the guys at my local honda, who im friendly with, the older guys told me Honda has instructed them to do minimal repairs, they are working on a perminant fix.

Yep, I took mine in again to get it documented at another dealer and they changed my MTF with the "updated" stuff and told me to come back if it crops up again. I'm not popping out of third yet but the smoothness of the fresh fluid is gone and its getting notchy again. Had the fluid changed about... 2 weeks ago? Waiting for the permanant fix really...

I put about 34,000 miles on my 06 SI before I traded it for a new Accord. I changed out the trans fluid myself and it seemed much smoother. I just hope the 6 speed in my accord don't have any of the same problems!

I wish you the best of luck with that... every FWD Honda with the 6 speed has exact same problem... CL Type S... the newer TLs... the RSX Type S... the Civic Si... something tells me the new Accords will be no different UNLESS Honda has secretly fixed the major issues... but that seems to be doubtful.

The fluid change is a band-aid at best.

I've had it replaced twice in less than 10,000 miles. The problem always comes back after the first week or two.

This fix better be coming soon, this is getting re-god-damn-diculous.

I replaced my OEM fluid with Amsoil like 6-7 months ago and it has had absolutely no problems since... just an FYI...

I wanted to ask, what happens if you DO NOT fix this 3rd gear synco problem?. Are there any long term effects?. My 3rd gear problem isn't bad. It just sometimes doesn't go all the way in the first time....but this is SERIOUSLY rare at best. I don't have these hardcore 3rd gear problems like most others have.....I don't really care if I fix it, as long as it doesn't get any worse. Thats why I'd like to know if it will be a bad thing to NOT fix the problem 3rd gear issue. I'll just live with it.

Well, I can't imagine it getting anything BUT worse.

Mine started out to be random and now they are almost constant.

Some have torn the tranny apart and found the teeth on the syncros are just completely chewed up.

If you have it, try to get it fixed at least. As far as I'm concerned, I'd like to see Honda eat as much warranty wise (and this isn't a cheap fix, either) over this issue, as they let it go on far too long and caused far too many of us grief.
