3rd gear issue.... :(

OK so i took my car back to Huggins Honda in North Richland Hills, this is where i bought the car from. So I take it in for an Oil Change and to get the 3rd issue fixed.. I got the oil change and they said that theres no problems with my gear. So Im just trying to see if theres anybody in the DFW that have got there 3rd gear fixed and are not having problems going into 3rd. I need a good dealership that is willing to understand my problem with the car and that are willing to fix it, since its still under warranty....

IM really not digging my SI right now!!!!

*sigh* when will these threads stop.

There is NO permanent fix for the problem. They can replace fluids and synchros(sp?) all day long, the problem will always come back. Honda engineered a faulty transmission, and CANT fix it because there is now 6+ years of cars with this transmission that would cost them MILLIONS to fix. Change the fluid to Amsoil or the new Honda MTF and be happy with the minor improvement.

What cables? There are no cables going to this transmission. The throttle used to route over the K series trannies but I'm 90% sure that was eliminated with i-VTEC (Drive by Wire) and the tranny is a hyrdo tranny...

I know mine is auto so i dont have this problem with my gears but I would like to say something about Huggins... I love their service dept. but it also depends on who you get for a svc advisor! I cannot stand Robert, but Mark will actually listen to what I am telling him. just fyi :)

They won't stop until Honda fixes their [pathetic] error. I don't care about car flaws: every car has them, but I think it is downright pathetic of a car company, especially Honda, to have the transmission literally LEAVE gear after being fully engaged. That's terrible engineering and Honda really should be ashamed of themselves.

It's a damn shame we couldn't get a class action lawsuit against Honda for this. I would love nothing more than to have Honda be forced to rip apart every car they threw this transmission in (knowingly, I suspect). It will serve them right, taking advantage of loyal [or naive] consumers like that.

Been there, done that. I love my car, but I think it's downright sad that I need my transmission overhauled at 20,000 miles. Really.

But PS, the TL, if it has the 6MT, is the exact same as the Si, and there have been reports of problems in the TL as well. Any Honda 6MT is going to potentially have this problem.

how often do you keep your car in 3rd anyways?? usually a shift to third isn't that far from a throw into fourth, just "jam" it into gear, hold it in place, dont' let it grind, and put it in fourth....if you're racing on a strip, you keep your car in gear longer obviously, but as mentioned, you'll have your hand on the stick the hole time, leaving it in gear even if it chooses to pop out

I'm sorry about the problems that you're having.. I'm not sure but I would say that Frank Kent Honda wouldn't do a thing to help you considering they do everything to get out of doing warranty work (I know this, just not with the 3rd gear thing).. It may not help you find a dealership to fix it, but it'll help you not waste your time.

Try Lute Riley Honda.. pm whoever it was that mentioned them and see what service advisor they had, then go up there and request him. Hell, slide him a 20 to make sure that he finds the problem, lol.

Yeah Huggins has the best service IMO. Lute Riley tries to screw you on prices, McDavid i dunno, Vandergriff mechanics suck, BAD.
