So yeah... uhhh.. how do you go about finding a job playing with rocks and not in the petro-chem industry? I have half of a geology degree and would love to complete it if there were real jobs for it... :)

Texas: ^^^I work in the coal industry now. I enjoy what I do for the most part, and am making pretty good money for being only 2 years out of school with a BS.

My first job was doing environmental remediation, but I didn't really like it too much, and the pay wasn't very good.

Actually I am in the oil/gas industry... so I guess what I do is draw maps and tell them where to poke the next hole to make the most efficient swiss cheese.

Are you doing coal here in Texas? I did environmental geophysics for 4 years and a little bit of remediation. Your right, it is crap work and they pay you a pittance.

No, I live in Pittsburgh, PA...lots of coal around here to keep me busy. My company works all over the world though, so I get to travel a little too.
