a couple days back i thought my tranny had blown up, because i couldn't get into 2nd or 6th on the first try - it was like i hit a wall with the shifter. turns out my short shifter had worked itself loose. i've got my buttery shift feel back - whew!

yeah - those were the most frequent. 4th every now and then. believe me - i was crapping. i had installed shift cable bushings as well, and had heard horror stories about people snapping the cable with the same symptoms as what i was having. i'm back in effect and it feels GOOOOOOOD.

when installed the short shifter it hit every low gear and the reverse forget about it. i will maybe some day bite the bullet and get the short shifter and have to shave the inside of that plastic to make it fit. but i dont have that itch right now

yeah - i modified the housing with a dremel when i originally installed it. i wouldn't have been able to use reverse had i not done that. i love my shift setup now. want a new shift knob, though, now that i think about it. suggestions?

I think I may have passed that one this weekend too when I was up in Austin, but not sure who it is.

So who in Austin has managed to find a dealership willing to fix their 3rd gear (now with the official TSB out)? Everytime I go they tell me they can't replicate the problem but they're friendly about it and tell me to bring it back if I notice it happening more frequently.

I'm getting mine fixed at Honda in San Marcos. I took it to them recently about the problem after Gillman (where I got the car) just kept accusing me of abusing it.

The tech in SM said he'd seen the problem before (though I don't know if they actually replicated the popping, but I'd assume at least the difficulty going in gear). Anyway they did an MTF change on it then (about 2 weeks before the TSB). I called up my service manager the day I saw the TSB, and he was already looking for my info to call me, so we scheduled it and it's going in as soon as the parts arrive. It's been behaving decently since the MTF change, but I think they understand that thats just a temp bandaid fix.
