Do you love your phone? Yes? What is it and why?

I am finally fed up with my POS Sprint phone from 5 years ago and I want a real one. I need some suggestions.

If you love your phone, tell us why kind it is and why.

If you're feeling nice and proactive, here are some things I am looking for...

1. Is compatible and responsive to push email
2. Easy to browse teh intarwebz
3. Easy to use it for instant messaging & texting (I have never done either on my current phone because it is such a P.I.T.A)
4. Easy to use as a modem for a computer (fast enough for average browsing)
5. Easy and fast to go between different functions (aim, email, phone, internet, ect)
6. Preferably a compact design
7. Easy to take pictures and upload them (if it can upload to photobucket direct, so much the better)
8. Must have some kind of QWERTY keyboard
9. If it is friendly to public development (open source, ect) so much the better.

Palm Centro. It meets all your needs, except sometime it lags between functions. Lags are generally no more than 5 seconds, but can be annoying if you do it multiple times.

I'm getting the blackberry curve soon (or bold if I don't!) both should meet all your needs well.

Plus all the cool kids got 'em (well at least in Canada).

I bet Steve Jobs has one

Blackberry Curve. Been using it for months and I will never go back to a conventional phone ever again.

Another Blackberry Curve user, it's perfect.

Been thinking about replacing it with an iPhone though, need an MP3 player and not sure about having an iPod and an MP3 all the time.

I have a Blackberry Pearl. For use as a computer modem you jus need to sign up for the plan. Oh, doesnt have full qwerty keyboard though. The SureType program in it is ANNOYING. And since is uses a Micro SD memory card, depending on the memory size you buy you can take lots of photos and videos. Just pop the SD card in your computer and upload the pics and vids. Also, you can use it as an MP3 player. Load your MP3s onto the SD card and there you go! The internet browser is pretty good. Oh and the Blackberry Messenger is a pretty cool feature. Its an Instant Messenger for Blackberry (used only between Blackberrys)

Yes. It's a Blackberry duh. No body does email like BlackBerry. My emails are pushed within seconds on average of their initially being sent. (doesn't matter if it's Gmail, Yahoo mail, MS exchange, w/e...)
2. Easy to browse teh intarwebz
Not really, the browser is a last gen mobile browser, but if you need quick info, you can get it.
3. Easy to use it for instant messaging & texting (I have never done either on my current phone because it is such a P.I.T.A)
Hell yes, ever heard of the crackberry?
4. Easy to use as a modem for a computer (fast enough for average browsing)
Yes. gives you slightly beter than when I had dial-up back in the day. And it works as a bluetooth modem as well as USB. Holler no wires!
5. Easy and fast to go between different functions (aim, email, phone, internet, ect)
Yes the BlackBerry OS is simple and intuitive. There is an app switcher that works quite well.
6. Preferably a compact design
It's a candy bar.
7. Easy to take pictures and upload them (if it can upload to photobucket direct, so much the better)
Yes I have a Flickr uploader that works well. But the phone doesn't access the Micro SD card very quickly which can be a pain.
8. Must have some kind of QWERTY keyboard
This is the most awesome non-full-QWERTY keyboard I've ever used. It's Qwerty, but there's like two characters on each button. It predicts what you meant to type. It's right about 95-99% of the time and corrections can be made super quick if it does mess up. It also learns as you type so like if a certain key combo can be two words like "hey" and "get," whichever you type most often is what it will pick. Also, it apparently didn't have curse words in it's dictionary but after I typed "damn" or "shitty" enough, it knew that's what I was trying to say and now it gets it every time lol. Here's a pic of it:

9. If it is friendly to public development (open source, ect) so much the better.
Yup,yup. RIM has always been developer friendly. There are so many apps for BB. Everything from ugly crap to big money pro dev's apps.
I like it, but it's falling behind as far as processor speed/power. I would really look into the new BlackBerry Bold/9000 it really looks like it will fill your needs well.

Yes, look into Sidekick LX. Its a great device. It has good web browser, E-mail, IM, text, camera, MP3 player, and organizer. There are rumors that it will get video player/camera in july via OTA update. You can also download several other apps and games. The screen is great, very easy to navigate and use.

I don't love my phone it's a razr that I got 3 years ago. I have to recharge the dam thing every night and it only lasts 30 mins when I'm on the phone before the annoying thing starts beeping about having low batteries.

Well, Gonz. I absolutely adore my new phone. I have an LG ENV2. It's small, the battery lasts forever. The memory holds a million friggin texts. I can AIM/Yahoo/or MSN on it. 2.0mp camera. It plays mp3s. Shoots video too. Big buttons on the front and has a really loud speaker.

Same phone same damn problem. The stupid beeping within like 30 mins of a full charge gives me a migraine. I can actually watch the battery bars drop down as the phone rings. Also it shuts off by itself or goes on silent from hitting the buttons on the side. Razr is a POS and I need me an iPhone, but none here in Canada yet

htc Excalibur S630 (Aka T-mobile dash)

has a large easy to read screen, windows mobile 5 which u can now update to wm6. It has a camera that takes very good pictures. Full qwerty keyboard, butt loads of memory, texting, bluetooth, wi-fi, internet, push email, long lasting battery, rubberized back for good grip, can connect to the computer via supplied data cable to transfer data, music, and games. Has windows media player.

When I originally bought it, I was looking into the blackberry 8700g and it has more features plus a camera for less money. Even after the new 8800 has come out, the dash is still a better bet.

Palm Treo 700WX
1. Is compatible and responsive to push email
Hell yes, gmail, IMAP, POP3, Exchange, webmail.
2. Easy to browse teh intarwebz
It uses a shortened version of IE, so I'd say yes.
3. Easy to use it for instant messaging & texting (I have never done either on my current phone because it is such a P.I.T.A)
has like 128mb of memory, so it'll hold a gazillion texts. You can chat on aim, if you get the AIM chat for Windows CE (compatible with Windows mobile 5.5)
4. Easy to use as a modem for a computer (fast enough for average browsing)
Never done it, but it's 3G compatible, so I'm going to assume yes
5. Easy and fast to go between different functions (aim, email, phone, internet, ect)
yeah, no lag unless you have like a 1000 emails in your inbox and dont clear it.
6. Preferably a compact design
about the same size as the blackberry's out there (like curve)
7. Easy to take pictures and upload them (if it can upload to photobucket direct, so much the better)
It cant take pictures easily, however dont use sprint if you wanna send picture texts (for some reason they dont allow u to send it, only recieve)
8. Must have some kind of QWERTY keyboard
has a full qwerty keyboard in the qwerty layout. I think it's better than the iPhone (and faster)
9. If it is friendly to public development (open source, ect) so much the better.
There's a lot of dif apps out there for it, not sure about open source though
you can find stuff on sourceforge for it, so I'm going to guess yes.

Overall, badass phone, and you dont need the enterprise software like you would for a blackberry.
