if you havent added anything its odd to get that error. when you replaced the memory you took all the old memory out right?
try to remove every expansion card, only use 1 stick of ram, and only connect 1 hard drive, no cd drives. |

go to my computer and right click on the hard drive, then properties. under tools, then error checking, click check now. checkmark both boxes. it will ask you to flag the drive to be checked on next start up. if it does, say yes and reboot.

I got one for ya.
I have a Dell inspiron E1505 laptop that I got for xmas two years ago. The charger/wall plug-in doesn't really work anymore. When I boot it up it says something along the lines of the "Power adapter not being recognized and needing to hit F1 to continue". Then when I do, the battery on the laptop refuses to charge. Right now it says "Plugged in, not charging" and I only have 6% battery life. Any ideas? |

Hey I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of a good processor/motherboard/heatsink combo. I am wanting to build my own computer and thats the thing that I am not sure about. And If it matters I perfer AMD to Intel, unless I can be convinced otherwise.
Things I figured out(let me know if there is something else i need) Case CD/DVD drive/burner Hard Drive RAM Last edited by Gitrdone42; 01-04-2009 at 03:59 PM. |

Depending on budget you have a lot of options. If you buy a 'Retail Boxed' processor, it'll come with a heatsink and thermal pate to apply it, which will be fine, unless you plan on overclocking it (or spending more money for the hell of it). You might want to add a graphics card (I'd recommend one, even if it's just a cheap one for the sake of it). Depending on the case you get, you'll most likely have to buy a power supply along with all of that too. Make sure you do your homework and buy the right kind (DDR2 most likely) and speed (preferably the fastest supported by your motherboard) RAM.
As for the processor, I'd say to get an Intel E8400. They're the best bang for the buck at the moment. AMD is pretty much outclassed by all Intels right now, if you look at any benchmark comparionsons. |

I don't really need anything expensive, just need it to be a basic system. The case I picked out has a power supply and rear fan already in it. I also wasn't sure about the graphics/video card.
So if I get a intel processor, I just need to get a motherboard and heatsink to match it? |

the boxed cpus come with heatsinks which are fine. intel chips run super cool. my E7200 right now is actually running without a fan because the quiet fan control on the motherboard says its cool enough to run with the fan off, sometimes it goes up to 500RPM, but thats still nothing.
if you want a nicer heatsink there are plenty of options out there. i dont know too much about AMD motherboards, but the phenom 8450 should be pretty good, try the 7750 if you want to save a bit of money as well. if you want intel id reccomend the E7200, or an E2200. i like to keep processors cheap, under $100-135, that generally returns the best value in my experience, especially with the way AMDs are priced and the way Intels overclock. |
