Hey I need help. Easy stuff for some I bet.

ok, my laptop has been doing this for a while, and I had forgotten about this section in the forum. Well now I remember so here goes.

My problem is that when I'm using internet explorer, most of the time (95%) when I try to open a link that would open a new page, IE locks up. AOL os fine, but IE does it almost every time.

I've ran a virus scan, its clean. I cleared all history, deleted files, cookies an temp internet files.

I'm stuck.

Is Firefox better than it was about a year ago? I gave up on it when flash video and crap never worked right. I've just been using IE7 since, no complaints.

I refuse to run any PC with IE. It's trash and useless. Firefox only. Then again, I hate PCs too. But we still have one. Unfortunately if you go to a lot of government websites that call for you to interact with them, you'll need IE so I do not recommend getting rid of it. The only reason we use IE on the Dell is because some of the Navy's websites only work with IE or netscape. I didn't even know Netscape still exists.

As far as Macs go, if you have Microsoft word on your machine and Firefox, you can't run them both at the same time. It's weird. I don't care for Firefox on the Mac though. I only use it out of habit from my PC days. I use Safari and Opera on my macbook.

firefox is working much better than it has in the past, there is also look up the plugins at firefox's website and download the latest flash and other plugins all at once so you won't have to wait until the need arises

Opera is a good option too. I use both Firefox and Opera. Opera mainly for pages that don't render correctly with Firefox.
Opera browser: Home page

I use firefox mainly out of habit, and that I hate IE7. The new IE in Vista on my notebook seems alright, but I just use firefox anyway, since it's a bright orange icon.

And yeah, I think FFox has come quite a long way from even just a year and some change ago. Now mostly everything runs correctly on it, with the exception, as Dawn states, of government and some school sites. School sites I find QUITE odd, being as you'd think a school would ensure it would work with Firefox because 90% of the student body uses it...

Come on now people, enough with the Mac gibberish. Don't force your beliefs upon another.

I do agree however, give FireFox a shot, I use it 99% of the time.
