Piece of %^&* Cell Phone RANT
I have Verizon and I love it. What I hate , though, is this piece of crap phone.
![]() LG VX9800 (Verizon Wireless) Cell Phone reviews - CNET Reviews I'm on #3 of this hunk of shiz in an 18 month period. Now, I love it's features and I love the qwerty key board but the simple fact that I've had 3 of these in less than two years pisses me off. I bought the thing in September of '06 and stopped using it when I deployed in January of '07 to Kuwait. It sat in a drawer until I returned to the states on Sept 21. It worked fine before I left and fine for the next 2 weeks. Then all of the sudden it started shutting itself off in the middle of calls, everytime I'd put it down, every time I'd shut it, every time I'd so much as look at it wrong. I took it to Verizon and they tested the battery, it was fine. They replaced the phone with a refurbished handset. That was about Oct 15. That refurbished hand set made it to about the middle of March before it started doing what the last did. I took that handset back to Verizon, same thing as last time. Battery is fine, replace handset with refurbished unit. Well, guess what refurbished unit started doing today? Yep. Shutting off on a whim. I hate this phone but I like it's features. I want the new envy because frankly, I'm too poor for a Voyager or Valentine (whatever the girly version is). I'm afraid that the New Envy is just as much a piece of puckey. Anyone have any experience with them? Does anyone here work for verizon and can give me some useful insight? |

tell them to give you one thats not refubished or tell em your ganna leave there service and your not ganna pay out cuz its there fault for giving you a phone that keeps breaking so u cant even use the service your paying for, my girlfriend did that with t-mobile and they sent her a brand new one

the curve just came out for verizon... i started to have issues with the last couple phones i have had with verizon (motorola phones, these would be the ones i upgraded for but right before my two year would be up something would go south with them) and they have always just replaced them on the spot not sure if it was brand new or refurbished.
i love verizon and there service but the phones havent been so great for a while now (esp. with all the normal phones having verizons standard software/layout. i actually picked up a blackberry curve from tmobile (work discounts ftw!) and use it for texting/aim/internet (plus i can use the phone overseas, which i couldnt do on my past trip with my verizon phone) i get to upgrade my phone at the end of june and either looking at the voyager or curve (or i just may wait and hold on to the newer razr they swapped out my old one for) but its all going to depend on this new plan pricing they put out.

No sooner had I written this rant, that POS went into overdrive in the Verizon store none the less. So I ended up getting a Maroon LG ENV (2) I love it. Has everything I need. HOpefully I won't need a new one every 3-6 months. If this phone busts, I'm dropping Verizon, going to AT&T and getting an iPhone.

I just got rid of that phone. I had if for 2 years and hated every day of it. Total waste of money, and with that sh*tty verizon red interface the phone could not to anything that one of their old free phones wasn't capable of doing.
I got the Voyager a few weeks ago and I finally like my cell phone again. Blacberrys are nice too but the data plans you need for the internet make the bill way too much money. |

The thing I like about the Voyager is that it's not a smartphone, so data is only $15 a month, plus it comes with Vcast which isn't awesome but can help with boredom here and there. I almost went with T-Mobile when my contract was up since I could have gotten the Shadow plus a $30 300 minute plan and Data for about $50 a month but all my friends are on Verizon so the savings would have cancelled out quickly. |
