Its not that bad really. Its a Gateway TA1. The monitor turns all the way around, but the "swivel?" broke so now the screen stays up, but has alot of play in it.
Anyone know where I might be able to pick the part up for cheap? Can i even replace it myself? ![]() |

If you haven't checked yet just search for the hinge on ebay, there's also a lot of places that part out laptops on the net too. I don't know about that particular laptop but it can probrably be done yourself. I've replaced the hinges on a couple of IBM laptops at work and as long as you keep organized it's not that big of a job. There's just a LOT of parts to keep track of. You will probrably end up having to take apart the screen and the base of the laptop, the base can get tricky on some models. |
