Which TV would you suggest?
Me and my two friends are renting a house next year and a TV is the main thing on our budget lol.
We're looking to spend about $250/person, so around $750 in total. None of us are super high-tech people that demand the clearest, highest quality picture - we just want something that looks good and is big. I think a 40" would be the smallest any of us would want. Is the budget too low? For a while we were tempted to just buy a big old rear-projection TV just so we could get a 50" for cheaps but we decided that was a poor choice lol. Are we gonna have to settle for a 30" or so instead? Don't really wanna buy it used since that's too much of a role of the dice. |

Also, don't buy a television used because you guys a desperate for a big TV. You guys don't want to spend $750 for something that will break in a few months. |

Well my bro almost (circuit city ran out) got a high end sony that was like 42" for under a grand when it was on sale, so I figured for $750 we could get a comparable size for a t.v that wasn't as expensive as sony.
And I already said no to the used tv, I don't want something that could just stop working with no warranty. |

Sony, Samsung and Toshiba got the best rating for overall. I like the samsungs the most. But you can never go wrong with a sony either. They last a long time. If i were you i would get the money together, then just wait for a big sale and keep your eyes open. If you have a while to wait.

At about 2300 dollars, IMO (I) would get myself and suggest you getting would be the 46" SHARP Aqous LCD 1080p HDTV. I'm telling you, it's worth the money. Secondly, anything like this^that TOSHIBA makes aswell. Toshiba is the highest quality socond to SHARP when it comes to HDTV LCD Tv's.

yeah, $750 is going to be tough. IMO, a tv is a pretty big purchase and if you're gonna do it, do it right. There's nothing like spending $750 on a tv, having it break, and having to spend more money to get it repaired or buy a new one. You'll save money in the long run if you get a good quality one.
The tvs from the previous posts (sony, samsung, toshiba, sharp) are good ones to check out. My family has a samsung and 40" LCD and it's really nice. |

I have an Olevia 32" HD TV that I got at Circuit City for a realy good price. I really love the tv. I got it for my Xbox360 but later hooked up an HD cable box to it. The picture quality is amazing and is comparible to my friends Toshibas' ect. I also learned that Syntax Brillian, the company that owns Olevia, is based out of Arizona. I got my tv for around 500$. Go for Olevia if you can find one, you won't be dissapointed. Good luck with your search, if you are like I am, spending a day shopping for HD tv's will be a dream come true.

Talked to my friends earlier and they said they're willing to do $300 max if that means we can get a decent T.V. So I guess our new budget is $900. I'm just gonna wait out best buy / Circuit City for one of their amazing sales, might be waiting until the holidays tho :S

Also a good way to get a good price on a tv is to buy a display model. You can really save a lot of money by buying a tv that has been on display in the store. People will tell you not to do this because the tv will "burn out soon" but this isnt true. Even a display model will likely have 95% of it's life left.

I got a Sharp Aquos 32" 720p LCD set for $700. Best value out there imo. It has 6000:1 contrast ratio, makes for an unbelievable picture. Works awesome with my PS2.
p.s. I bought it early morning on Black Friday last year. They currently retail for $800 - $900. |

What are you guys going to do when one of you moves on? Who gets the tv, have you thought of that? Putting your money togeather sounds like a good idea till someone wants to move out and you have to figure out what to do with the tv since he's bitching he paid for part of it and won't be using it anymore.
I picked up a 3 year old 55" non hd projection tv fro $250 a few weeks ago, they are everywhere since everyones upgrading to HD. |
