I've played all the SOCOM's. I bought SOCOM 1 two weeks after launch. Played until S2 came out, played that until S3 came out, fell off for awhile and got back into it when S:CA came out. In the summer, years ago, I used to do like 8 hour stints. I was always a gamer, but the SOCOM series made me a junkie lol. Up until about 3 months ago, I played CA around 10-15 hours a week. I consider S1 one of the best games of all time. But I feel that S3/CA have all but killed the series. The maps are descent, but suck compared to S1/S2. The lag is horrible, and hit detection is equally bad. The weapon spray is ridiculous and so is the amount of health that you get. In S1 the most it took to kill somebody was like 4-6 shots...and that was if you were hitting limbs....Anyway, I finally got fed up with it one day, bought COD4 and never looked back. Sorry for the rant lol. I really hope that Confrontation will redeem the franchise. If it goes back to it's roots, I'll be back in a second.

shit i've been playin socom for a long time Purcell has been my name on them all... i played all day everyday for a long time, i'll be on the new socom whenever it comes out for ps3, i was in top clans and shit in CA on gamebattles, had a draft on that site for a tourney and i lead my team to win that shit.. yeaaaah

Now I'm playing COD4 to take advantage of my new PS3/HDTV, but it just isn't the same.

Small maps mostly, sniping is halfway pointless since there is no such thing as a hiding place, no such thing as cover either since you can shoot through stuff! Not to mention headsets are useless since no one talks, it's open mic, and some moron is always blasting stupid music thinking he's cool. Really not much strategy involved in COD4, just run and gun.
