Dell XPS desktops are fast and powerful, but they are VERY faulty. We bought 10 XPS machines for my department... and 8 of them had problems. Mainly the hard drive and motherboards had to be replaced. Dell gets the cheapest parts for everything, and they sell new computers with refurbished motherboards. I have friends who work at Dell in Texas and Malaysia who confirmed this. POS machines man. Good luck with yours.

Looks like a great machine. Don't fear too much. All companies have their gremlins, but chances are more likely than not your machine will be fine.

Looks good spec wise

Dell has been very good to me, and I've bought three notebooks from them. I did see a slight dip in overall build quality, but it was still sturdy enough for me to use everyday for 3 years.

Hope you like your machine.

Cool purchase. I think for a desktop I would've went with a custom setup though. Those quad core processors are off the hook.

I agree a custom setup is def. better and fun to build IMO. That 24in. monitor must be pretty badass. Also, would be cheaper to ditch the 1TB drive and get 2 500GB drives in a raid 0?

Thanks man!

Ya custom is always better, but this had what I needed at a reasonable price...The 1TB drive was like 100 extra and the 24in monitor was 100 extra so not really too bad

Funny how people say that Dell is this or that, their motherboards suck, etc...Not saying that this may not be true, but I had a buddy do a custom build himself with the top of the line nVidia motherboard and had issue after issue with that motherboard...meh, I'll take my chances...

Thanks for the input all!

It all falls down to price and company and such, in the end.

Dell motherboards are good. last time i checked they were made by Foxconn, which are the same people who make alot of Server motherbaords which run at load 24/7, and also they make for Asus.

What monitor did you get? I have the Samsung 24" widescreen at work (I forget the model name...) and I freakin' love it. Too bad I'll be changing departments in 3 weeks

You should've gotten the warranty. It's a dell which isn't the greatest quality. I would compare it to the new Gateways plus you're going to be gaming and flying though those parts. Nice unit tho... I would've gone with the 8800gts because of the pipelines... I found a bfg for 260 w a 30 dollar mir
