Hi, I was just wondering, what is the pros and cons of upgrading the ipod touch's software to the latest version? Thanks.

hey bro, i have a touch, and i used to have the 1.1.3 version and now i have the 1.1.4.

they say, coverflow is much smoother/faster, and the volume is a little bit louder(if u can tell). also it removes a few bugs, safari is a little faster. battery life is longer

Do you know how to set a picture as the background of the screen? I tried doing it several times as a wallpaper, but it never shows up. The wallpaper ends up being a blank black screen. Does the new update offer Maps etc..?

The "background" you're setting is for after the ipod touch locks itself or you push the lock button, when you have to "slide to unlock" that screen is whatever picture you have set. Unless you're actively listening to a song and then it'll just be the album art to that song.

At this point in time the only benefits to upgrading to 1.1.3 is to be able to install the January apps. 1.1.4 is believed to have set the ground works for the new SDK that is being released for the iPod Touch and iPhone.

What is the SDK supposed to do? Also, does anyone know when it'll be released?

It should give developers the tools and ability to make programs for iPhones and iPod Touch without having to jailbreak them. So they'll be recognized by Apple and legal to put on your device.
