The Official Blu-Ray Thread

So since the HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray thread is over, heres a Blu-Ray specific thread.

Official Blu-Ray site: Blu-ray Disc

I get my blu-ray info here though:

Blu-ray.com - Blu-ray Movies, Players, Recorders, Media and Software

I'm patiently waiting for the Kill Bill Series and Matrix Trilogy to be released, if ever.

I'd get a PS3 for the fact that it currently is one of the only upgradeable Blu-Ray player on the market due to its internet capability.

i voted PS3 for now but that may change as technology advances and the current PS3 isn't capable of handling it (like next gen high defintion i.e 3-D high def)

hold ur flames for a moment plz. I was at best buy one day checkin out ps3 games and i overheard the dept employee telling a customer that a stand alone is better because playing blu-ray movies on the ps3 kills the lense due to the constant beam reading the movie data as opposed to a ps3 game where data is read then loaded and no constant reading beam but i cant speak on if this is true or not. I watch movies on mine and im not sure on this sine the games are bluray format... i dunno something to at least search and check out.

i guess we will find out sooner or later how long the ps3 will hold up. There are ppl that are running them at their main bluray player and dont even play videogames on them so i think that says something.

Stand alone... but wait awhile longer for prices to drop. The newest players are far more advanced then the first generation player thats in the ps3... they have the capability of 24fps, blu rays' new interactive menu's, and the processors are dedicated to video quality playback... the panasonic is very nice and the sony s500 is great as well... the sharp has a digital noise issue that ive seen more then once on most sets to incluse sharp panels

Don't believe what those Semi Geek Squad dudes say.

If that were true then I will not buy a stand alone either because I will kill the lense too.

The only positive points of a stand alone player are:

*Price
*Size
*Style
*Audio

Cloverfield on Blu-Ray June 3rd. Might want to hold off on that DVD purchase.
