hacking the voyager?
I figured out how to get custom ringtones on my LG Voyager using BitPim, Itunes and an MP3 converter. I was wondering if anybody knows a way to customize the menu like the iphone with games and stuff
How to get free ringtones (you will need itunes, an AAC-MP3 converter, and BitPim)(make sure you install all phone drivers after connecting it to computer through usb): Welcome to BitPim Koyote Soft Apple - iTunes - iTunes Overview 1. Find song you like on itunes than find and remember the time range of a 30 second clip of it you like 2. right click and go to get info 3. click the options tab and enter the time range and click remember playback position than press OK 4. click convert to AAC format 5. Find an AAC to MP3 converter and use that to create an MP3 of the AAC file 6. Open BitPim and click on the plus sign under media 7. Click ringtone and drag MP3 file into there 8. Click the convert button than ok 9. Click 'SEND PHONE DATA' on the upper left corner 10. The ringtone should now be on your phone if you go to call ringtone under tools Last edited by 06si; 02-26-2008 at 07:49 PM. |

There's not much out there for hacks on any phone with Verizon software since they did a pretty damn good job of buttoning it up and making it so you have to buy everything. The most popular "hacks" seem to be replacing the tip calc and world clock apps with games.
One of the best hacks I've heard of for a Verizon phone was taking the Razr V3M and flashing it with Altell firmware to get the Motorolla interface back and ditch verizon's sh*tty UI. Thanks for the link to that voyager message board, I'm going to look through it. I'm kinda on the fence with weather I'm going to stick with Verizon in a few months after my contract is up. If I find something cool i may stay. Last edited by volvo9; 02-27-2008 at 09:45 AM. |
