Calculator help

Ok right now I have a Casio 9850 and I just bought a TI-84 Plus Silver Edition. I haven't opened the TI-84 yet, but I am wondering whether or not it will get me through all of high school and through college. I plan on taking Calculus on my senior year at high school and I'm a junior in high school now. In other words, will the TI-84 suffice through college? Or is the TI-89 recommended?

depends on the field, but generally speaking, the TI-84 will be enough.

if your gonna have a TI-89 have a backup calculator thats not a pain to use because its going to be disallowed in math classes, if not ALL graphing calculators disallowed.

for HS calculus, a good scientific is all you need. like 99% of the time graphing calcs are disallowed for calculus 1.

chemistry, physics, engineering, the TI-89 may prove useful, but your not going to be stuck without one.

^^true story. but it kinda depends the teacher that you get. my calc1 teach allowed graphin calcs, so i put derivatives in my calculator. haha. but my calc2 teacher did not allow calcs at all so i was f'ed in the butt. i didnt learn the derivatives (for the anti-derivs) and didnt know how to do anything. i failed that class, took it again the following semester and got a b. woot woot. now im in differential equations and my teach allows it. i had an ti86 and it worked fine throught all those and physics. but you should be fine. just dont cheat and store things in your calc cuz it might kick your ass.

I used a ti86 through high school and college. Do youself a favor and learn the material. Don't rely on a calculator.

Ti-89 FTW it does intergrals derivatives pretty much all ur algebra for you. It can be said that you should "learn the material" which is tottally true but when you get to differential equations in college it makes things soooo much smoother. I live by my TI89

My 48g is almost 15 years old and still going strong. I've been eyeing the new 50g but I haven't found an excuse to buy it. HP still does some things right.
