had the iPhone and i hated it. i used it for about two months and was the worst headache ever. i had a nokia E90 communicator and i loved it the only down fall was the size but it was amazing. now i'm using a Nokia N95 8gb and an LG Voyager. i like em both but i think i will definitely purchase this without a doubt because of the features and the way sony ericson makes their products. good company hands down.

I've always bought unlocked GSM phones. I'm even using an iPhone in Canada (not released here yet).
Actually marc, they know exactly what phone you're using. They cant refuse you support or service due to it though, because you initially did and you are PAYING for a service.. they can suck me long if they try to refuse ME service for that.

The iPhone is definately innovative, even though it has its old school 2g ways. I will get one.. but nothing near what they cost .

they don't know what phone you're using. at leats AT&T doesn't. just because you switch out the SIM card doens't mean that your IMEI number is going with it to because it doesn't. so say you buy a Razr from AT&T, activate it and use it, they scan your IMEI and its in the system. Now you go buy this X1 and switch your SIM card over, it still registers your IMEI number from the Razr. I've done this a thousand times. they'll never know. the only thing you need to do is download the settings for your WAP and your mobile internet for the new phone you purchase from the manufacter's website and you're good to go.

IMEI numbers stay with the device, not with your SIM. But yes, your carrier may have a record of the original purchase when you first activated your service. Although you can buy prepaid SIM cards, so those don't have IMEI numbers to cross-reference (then convert it to a monthly plan).

With the laundry list of features, it's certainly going to cost quite a bit of coin to get one. That's going to be the disadvantage. Even if you get this phone with a contract, you'll probably still shell out more money than you would for an iPhone. This is my own speculation, of course.

I imagine this would easily go for $900 for an unlocked phone. I wouldn't be surprised if it broke the $1,000 mark.

I find that hard to believe. I say it will release at 400 at MOST with a contract. Theres no doubt if it comes to the states it will be an ATT phone.. and it doesnt seem much better than the tilt.

I won't be surprised... Sony Ericsson likes to launch near the $700-800 for an unlocked version.

IMEI stay with the phone. its registered with the company and they monitor it for like 3 months or so just to make sure you use their phone. and after that you can use whatever phone you want.

sometimes unlock phones will wipe out the IMEI number to all zeros.

ooo btw, i have MANLY fingers so i cant type with the iphone but i have the tmobile wing which is WAYYYYYYYYYY better
