Just got rid of the Motorola Rizr Z6m currently on my 10th phone in ~2 years... nothing wrong with the Z6m but I fell in love with the LG VX8800 "Venus." It's kinda similar to the VX10000 "Voyager" that's dropping on Thursday but it's smaller, is a slider and only half is touch screen.

The bottom half is a touch screen, it changes based on what you're doing. It makes going through things a breeze as instead of being limited to a 5-way pad and 2 soft keys, it has whatever button needed related to the current thing it's doing right there. I almost decided to go with the Voyager after playing with a working version at the store but it's too big, after my Motorola Q I've vowed to never go with such a huge phone again, also after playing around with it in the store it would effectively negate the point of my having gotten an iPod touch. My only gripe is that there is a lot of plastic use in the Venus, but for only $379 out of contract it's rather managable.

I'm curious to see how the Voyager will do against the iPhone... the iPhone definately has it beat in the music, video and browser department. The Voyager has a browser but I doubt it's as easy to navigate as the iPhone's. But the QWERTY keyboard on the voyager is far better than the iPhone's touch based keyboard. Anytime I use it on my iPod touch I just wanna throw the damn thing. The Voyager is also a bit thicker than the iPhone, and like the Venus they use more plastic than the iPhone. But the Voyager can be had for $419.99 out of contract, which is $20 more than the iPhone without signing on for 2 years, if you opt for the contract the Voyager is $299.99 which is $100 less, but you'll need to buy a memory card if you want to use music and video. I believe the 8gb microsd cards from Verizon are $80. Also the vibration feedback on the touch screen of the Voyager and Venus is awesome and really helps.

i just picked up my voyager today. I got the phone w/a 2 year contract, 8gb memory card, car charger, case, stereo headphones (if you buy the stereo headphones and memory card you get $70 rebate which can be used at the time of purchase. This will knock down the price of the memory card to $100 instead of $130) and the for $465 OTD with the rebate. Pretty damn expensive for a cell phone but it seems like it might be worth it. I have 30 days to decide if i really like it or i can just go back to my Samsung SCH-U740.
The internet browser is nice but not as nice as the iphone IMO. You need to get vcast also if you want to use the internet browser ($15/month) or else you pay $2 everytime you sign on the internet or check movie times. I will give my review on the phone when i have had some more time to play with it.

the letters on the touchscreen are about the same as regular LG phones but the 2nd keypad has gap in between each letter with huge buttons for each one.
If you don't have v-cast it costs $1.99/mb used. V-cast is only $15 a month and gives u the peace of mind when u r on the internet and stuff.

I'm not trying to bash your new phone, but I was going to get one, and when I played with it at the VW store, I found the touchscreen very unresponsive. And navigating the browser on the touchscreen was difficult. The scrollbar on the right is too small and when its zoomed out, the text on the browser gets fuzzy, I think they should've gone with a higher resolution screen. The camera was on the higher end of the 2 MP camera phones I have used though. And the QWERTY pad is great, way more comfortable that the enV. I can't wait until someone cracks this thing and lets us add third party apps, then I will consider getting one. For now, this phone doesn't seem to have enough features to contend with the high end phones its up against.

Enjoy your new phone though! Good buy!

i think that the iphone is a better phone than the Voyager as far as internet and youtube goes. For text messages the Voyager is definetely the way to go. I also like the pulse touch on the voyager.

not sure if its really worth all the money i paid for it. I spent over $500 for the phone with 8 gb memory card, headphones, case, and car charger. I am thinking about returning the phone and just keeping the memory card for my samsung.
