Possibly... it all depends is you key for OEM software meaning did it come with the computer when you bought it. If it did what is the manufacture of the computer? If you bought the copy after you bought the computer than as long as it's the same version ie Windows Home, Windows Pro, Windows Media Center, you should be good to go.

No. Each XP CD has a Code to go only with their Product Key. SP1 or SP2 Doesn't matter since people would slipstream SP2 into their SP1 XP and reburn it.
If you lost your XP CD but still have your key, your best option is to hit up bittorrent and look for those XP All-in-one Disc (Pro, Pro SP2, Home, Home SP2, MCE, Corp, etc etc) and you can use your "legit" key for it. I personally use my Student XP Pro SP2 that can be install unlimited times without activation and always past legit genuine test since it is made to be install unlimited times. I got this XP from my school. I believe you can find it else where too... *HINT HINT* Last edited by DTNguyen107; 01-24-2008 at 08:06 PM. |
