I ended up just buying the new MacBook in white. I wasn't about to wait for another metal MacBook to come out. I've heard only horror stories about the original metal ones.

How come, Sandy?

I'm planning on buying the kit from Invisible Shield (shieldzone.com). They've gotten almost nothing but positive reviews online, and the white MacBook plastic looks like my iPod plastic (aka like it is going to scratch if I look at it wrong), so I am planning on getting a "clear bra" so to speak, for my MacBook, and it's custom fit.

I love it to pieces, I just want it to stay looking as gorgeous as it does now forever.

I've heard that as well, Sandy.

I've also been told most "clear shields" suck, but the reviews for the company I mentioned were nothing but positive, so I'm considering it.

How's the cars?

Ah for V2? Haha, we can all hope.

GPS, 3G, and over 10 gigs are definitely on my wish list. They will all come in due time. 3G sometime this year as I am sure everyone has heard. Hopefully soon. :) GPS has gotta be in the works, sorry to existing owners. The google maps functionality makes too much sense when paired with a GPS chip. I wonder how handy it would be as an in car device? I'd probably stick to my Tomtom but still. Would be fantastic in a pinch.

Plus it would be nice to get an iPhone and at least be able to say it has more memory than my almost 6 year old iPod.

I bought a cover from Shieldzone for my iPod and its great!

I also bought one for my PowerBook 17", but they sent me one for a MacBook Pro 17" (slightly different size). Of course I didn't realize until I was done putting it on. I sent it back since they don't make one for PowerBooks, even though their website said so at the time.

Anyways, these are a lot harder to put on than reviews would lead to believe. You will want a friend to help and really clean hands.

So what did you all think?

With the iPhone still being locked into AT&T, I really want an iPod Touch - All the features of the iPhone except com capabilities.

I thought the biggest thing was Apple TV Take 2 or w/e they're calling it. Looks like what Apple TV was suppose to be - a digital media hub. With standard ad Hi Def rentals and all the major movie co.'s on board I think this is gonna be BIG. And @ $229 I'm definitely getting one.

Did Sandy preorder yet?

There is an interesting speculation in the Gizmodo RSS feed that the MacBook Pro would end up getting the new multi-touch touchpad. Not a far-fetched speculation at all.

Alright, so I was fairly impressed with the Macworld keynote. Lots of neat little bits, and the MacBook Air is a pretty amazing sliver of a machine. But it's not what many of us had hoped for. All I really wanted for Macworld was a 13-inch MacBook Pro. A serious but compact workhorse, not a sexy will-o-the-wisp. And now I'm too scared to even buy the current 15-inch MacBook Pro. Why?

Because the MacBook Air's coolest feature—other than its anorexia—is the multitouch trackpad, and Jobs knows it will probably pop up in a MacBook Pro refresh in just a few months. It's a simple formula:

Multitouch trackpad + green components + PowerBook-like black keyboard + redesigned case = dream machine.

Let's not forget Penryn chips, either, which mean more speed and less power suckage. Actually, since the inevitable MBP update is now at least a few months out, we'll probably see it launch with Intel's Montevina platform, the successor to Santa Rosa which is expected in May.

Though these are all reasons to wait for the next wave of MacBook Pros, I can't help but worry that a smaller MBP may never come. Apple likes to keep things nice and differentiated. I want a tight little beast of a machine, but there's already a small MacBook and now here comes the Air, with its feather-light weight and fairy specs. This reminds me of the iPod crisis last fall: Apple, why can't you give us one machine that does it all?
I couldn't find the actual article on Gizmodo's website for some reason.
