Denon's models will be shipping next month. Their 3000 model will be the best out there by a long shot! No one will be close to using a video processor even remotely close to it but then again, not many people will want to spend $2000 for a BD player. If that's out of your range, go with the Sony 500 or the Panasonic player. Around $500 and a great picture with ability to run 8ch analog out to your HT receiver (pending it has analog in) to get the full uncompressed audio. If you don't have a HT system or have one that has the TrueHD and DTS-HD processing, I'd just go with the Sony 300 and be good. Great player and is only $300-350 range, depending on when and where you get it.
Anyone who says the PS3 doesn't understand technology. A video game system will never reproduce a movie as well as a stand alone player. The PS2 didn't play DVDs nearly as well as a basic $50 model so why would a PS3 do what a $300 BD player will do? Not to mention, you cannot control your PS3 with a universal remote so the control factor is weak. |
