just saw this on tv. its a 10 day trial. i have never played but i figured for free i would try it.

i just started to play. i like to just run around and kill the pigs and tigers. its pretty fun.

I played a free trial but it got boring after a while. Especially considering most people were 20 levels higher and I was stuck trying to do quests by myself.

thats y i am only going to do the trial. i dont wanna pay to play. like i refuse to pay to be a vip on this site.

Hmm...that's probably my ex writing that. lol , jk. But seriously, these games are just like crack. I used to play FFXI ALOT and then 1 day, I just quit. I'm glad I did cuz I forgot how much fun going out is.

So because some jackass is weak-willed and can't play computer games in moderation it's WoW's fault? Or maybe his GF was annoying and he was just using WoW as an excuse to break up with her ... who knows? Getting only 1 side of the story ftl.

As an avid MMOGamer since UO (then EQ, DAoC, CoH, WoW, etc), I've never had a hard time playing the game and having time for friends, family, and my GF of almost 8 years. Sure I'm not anywhere near the high end game play, but you don't need to be to have fun. At least I don't.

And for the cost per hour for the fun that it gives is lower then just about anything I can think of. 15 bucks for 1 month of as much playing as you can handle. Even if you only play for 4 hours a month it's cheaper then a movie. if you play for 4 hours every week it's cheaper then renting a movie. I'm sure you get the point.

I usually play about 2-3 hours 4-5 days a week on average. Some 8 hours binges on weekends etc., but I've never had the urge to play WoW over spending time with my GF. Hell, my GF even played WoW for a bit and liked it. But stopped because she wanted me to have something I could do that was 'my thing'.

So ya, didn't mean to get over defense about WoW, but I just don't like how MMOGs get such a bad rap in the media because of very few individuals who can't control themselves. So 100, oh hell why not say 100,00 people in 9 million (world wide) are idiots, doesn't mean that you will be (or everyone else who plays is).

Same with me. I love this site, and if it was a 1 time $30 to become a VIP, I would. Not once a year though.

I know.. I used to be flat-out addicted to a game called Ultima Online. The graphics suck compared to WoW (I beleive they're working on them now) but the game play is just amazing. It got to the point where I was playing 5+ hours a night, had like 200+ million gold (which is.. a lot), insanely rare/expensive items for all my characters, maxed out characters, etc etc. It was getting ridiculous. I just pulled the plug on my acc one day, been 4 months or so and I think about going back everyday lol. It's just that fun.. but I won't!

I'm not blaming WoW man, I'm just saying the game is addictive, or so I've heard. I've personally never played the game and never will. As I already said, another MMORPG I used to play had me literally addicted for a while. Knowing that I'm already weak-willed to handle an addicting game, there's no point in playing WoW for me.

Best advise I can give:

-Play in moderation
-Make sure you're having fun playing
-Quit if it ever feels like a job
-Alliance is for lamers

It's very easy to get addicted, and then you realize it's not even that fun anymore. You just play to get one stupid item for hours on end, or because you feel like people are depending on you.

<---- Sober for 6 months. Played 2.5 years (4 60's and 1 70)

One of my best decisions of 2007 was quitting that game. Life is good outside WoW .

I just started two weeks ago and I'm at level 27!! It really is an addictive game.... For The Alliances out there hit me up sometime to quest... I'm: Nrage on The Forgotten Coast Server.

Like everything else in life, one has to exert self control.

There are worse stories I've heard about people getting addicted to games, personally I know someone who was so addicted he had to repeat first year university (WE all know its not his smarts, he got into university on a top scholarship!)

I'll admit I've spent whole days at a time playing , but when there are more important things in life that requires your attention, well, then you stop. I stopped playing for four months coz of multiple reasons, just played again couple of nights ago for a few hours.

Its all in the person, not the game.

And if anyone else is on horde side, twisting nether and want to quest sometime look me up-> trohu (50 Tro Hunter) or Tadru (30 druid)
