I'm considering this tv...what are your opinions on this tv? How do you guys like the tv so far? I want to wait for the OLED LCDs but those tv's are hella expensive and I'm not going to wait for prices to drop on those things...so I'm considering the panasonic 50" plasma at the moment...

digital cables don't matter much in terms of quality, info is sent in digital format, atenuation doesn't happen the same way it does in analog

I've got a Sony Grand Wega 42-inch (KFE42A10) LCD Rear Projection. I'm happy with it :)
Also have a JVC LCD Flat Screen that's hanging on the wall. Its a few years old and it has dark areas on it...

I just bought the 42PX77 and am very pleased with it.

wow, I hope you don't honestly believe that. Stop thinking so basic and get into the depth of it and you'll see digital wires make just as much difference as analogs.

still not sure what i want to get yet...lcd's aren't bad but plasmas got them beat as far as PQ goes...but then again plasmas consume a lot more power to run and weigh much more...

what would you guys recommend? my budget is b/w 3 to 4K...I'm currently looking into/considering the following TV's...
Sony - BRAVIA XBR 52" 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV - KDL-52XBR5
Panasonic - 50" 1080p Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV - TH-50PZ750
Pioneer - KURO 50" 1080p Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV - PDP-5010FD
Sony - BRAVIA XBR 52" 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV - KDL-52XBR4

the pioneer isn't out of my range it's at 4K after the 1K savings...

^i've had my eye on that tv and now that i see it's at 4K it makes it even more attractive...EDIT: after doing lots of research on the above TV's I'm leaning towards the Kuro...thanks for your input, I am now going to make the move towards this tv...the only thing is that I have to find some some to get it and some time to watch it

For whomever cares, the Panasonic Viera line has launched. Here are some links, however, I'm sure you can find better info if you're seriously considering one:

These links are for the 46" size/price point (the size I'm considering), but they come in 50" and 42" as well:

800U: Amazon.com: Panasonic Viera TH-46PZ800U 46" 1080p Plasma HDTV: Electronics

85U: Amazon.com: Panasonic Viera TH-46PZ85U 46-inch 1080p Plasma HDTV: Electronics

80U: Amazon.com: Panasonic Viera TH-46PZ80U 46-inch 1080p Plasma HDTV: Electronics

So I went to best buy today to check out the tv in person...i love it...and to my surprise the price has now dropped to 3,699 ...only thing is that i tried to play with the settings on the tv to get the the best picture and it was great...but when compared to the lcd's this tv appeared to be much darker...the colors on the lcd's were a lot more vibrant and jump out at you...but i like the natural look of the kuro...do all plasmas generally appear to be darker than the lcd's?

well i finally pulled the trigger on teh pioneer kuro 50"...sale price dropped to 3,300 at best buy but i got it for 2,970 after 10% off to have it calibrated for 300, so the calibration pays for itself...this tv was a steal at that price ...

I just picked up a 37" LG LCD. It's main purpose is a monitor for Asheron's Call on my MacBook pro... 14" tall characters FTW!
