I think it is really hard to say, but I have seen/heard to many nightmare stories of burn in from video games on plasma tv's than I care to remember. IMO if you plan to do alot of gaming i would get an LCD over a plasma. I know alot of "new" technology exists for burn in protection, but sadly i am not convinced.

I'm aware of the glare issue and it won't be a factor in my house...my only gripe is the possible burn in issue...i'm not a big time gamer...my brother is, he scares me hahaha...he will just have to resort to hooking up the 360 and wii to the wega haha...we'll see, i'm not completely sold on the plasmas just yet but I'm heading in that direction...

They have a 73" and all TVs come with a "converter" that makes any low resolution picture "HD" in a sense. They have to otherwise you'd watch basic cable on a 73" and end up with a 40" or so picture on the screen. It uses a scaler to "create" the extra pixels of information to fill the screen in it's entirety. Now most TVs use cheap scalers hence why basic cable looks soooo much worse than true HD because it has to create less pixels. Personally, I wouldn't own a Mitsubishi ever since they moved their manufacturing to Mexico. The overall quality went down hill biiiig time. Not saying Samsung DLPs are any better now days but they're better than Mitsu. I wouldn't go the rear projection route as most companies are getting out of them soon. This is Sony's last run and Samsung will do one more run then they're done. Flat panel is where we're going. I just can't wait for OLED to become more available.

I got 42in toshiba regza 1080p lcd and im pretty happy with it. Only complaints is as with a lot of lcds is blurring on some things, Mostly panning shots is where its most noticable but overall i like my tv and i got is for a good deal about 8-9months ago on sale for $1500-1600 i dont recal exactly but it usually went for $1799. I paid a couple bucks short of $2000 for it after taxes, extended warranty, and hdmi cable. Its a hard thing to go tv shopping especially at places like best buy because u have to consider that most of those sets arent even set up correctly via settings. Most of them are with out of box settings. So to accurately get an idea what these sets will give u u have to sit there and try to optimize them in-store minus proper calibration. I only slightly give magnolia in best buy the benefit of the doubt on this since they are supposed to have the hi end shit and dont have so much on their sales floor that they migh actually have these sets tuned properly which in turn would also make them look much better than whats on the other sales floor. I dont know why u would want a 73in tv. I personally think it would make more sense to start looking at projectors instead if i was looking at things that size.

Yea I got my mitsu about 4 years ago so I think Im ok with the quality since it still works like day 1. I am thinking of upgrading to 1080p so prolly go with lcd this time. I think oled will be a while before pricing is reasonable. One thing with DLP is it has a fan to keep for over heating. Kind of annoying really unless you have sound blasting all the time. Just not sure which LCD I want to buy.

LCD

I checked out a lot of HDTV's for my bedroom and I decided on a 32" Sony Bravia XBR in the end. It's definitely worth the money.

^I have the same TV, love it. Best 32" on the market currently. But we'll see how LG's new 32" plasma will look... might be interesting.

All LCDs in 52" size are 1080p. The Sony XBR is still the best but I'd probably go for a plasma at that size. Pioneer if you can still find one.

Hmmmmmmmmm.......... Well i have 2 42" plasma tv's, 4 LCD tv's(37-52) one 65 Mitsubishi dlp and finally one 50" Samsung DLP. The plasma seem to have the best pictures with the deepest blacks and no ghosting where as the LCD's seem to
perform really well since they are in very bright rooms. The DLP tv's are also good and much less expensive.......... In reality just buy what your budget can afford, there are
ton's of really good tv's out therel.....

I'm actually surprised that people are voting more for LCD than Plasma on the poll considering Plasma generally has better colors and blacks than LCD and they still come in at a lower price.

I absolutely love my 56" Toshiba DLP other than having to buy replacement bulbs. (They are $180 each) My first one just happened to die a week after the warranty for it expired haha.
