Thumbs up The Official Mac Chat Thread

This is the thread for Mac owners and those interested in one to chat about them and ask questions. I noticed that we Mac fanatics have a terrible tendency to thread jack so this is to curb that!

death to the caps lock key:

System Preferences--> Keyboard and Mouse--> click "Modifier Keys" and change caps lock to "no action" or "command" if you want.

Figured I'd say Hello.

I've had macs all my life (dad own's an ad agency)

Just a few months ago I had a 17" Powerbook G4, whatever the second to last iteration was. It started to die a slow painful death (hardware overheated) Apple replaced it with a brand new 17" MBP 2.4.

The intels have their own little quirks (have trouble connecting to certain router setups, constantly dim the screen after a few minutes despite how many times you adjust the energy settings, known issue)

Overall though it is a very nice computer. Since Apple switch to Intels I can say they finally have computers that are consistently competitive with the rest of the PC market. (Whereas they usually release a series of processors that are very fast, but eclipsed before too long, and then strung out for waaaay too long.

This new machine is leaps and bounds ahead of my old one. Plus it runs Windows which is nice for stuff at the office but even moreso for games. (Wow, a mac that can finally run games, even if it is dual-booting windows...) It is kinda of depressing since this machine is now faster than my old dedicated gaming desktop. Such is technology...

Overall I am still very happy with OSX and my mac.

Using a PC is like taking 3 right turns to make a left where as with a Mac you can just turn left.

natalie can have one. She's cool. That's a prereq.

I have a 7 year old Viao with a 6gb hard drive and 256m of ram that is still alive and kicking. It weighs about 10 lbs and is a colorful paper weight in my dad's office. Its so old, it doesn't have an ethernet jack!
Yea I am the coolest!! I get an education discount through Mac, so maybe thats what Ill start working towards!
