yea FiOS seems great, but just wait until you see how much they charge to install it at your house, plus once you go fios they cut your phone line down, so if you want to at a later date go with another phone company you have to pay to re run your phone line.....its going to cost int he long run...trust me.

i doubt that power companies will be entering that business anytime. i am in the industry of TV/internet/Phone service so i now typically whats going to happen long before it really does.

edit: they have been trsting broadband over power lines in some cities but it is not that great and i dont expect that to be a treat towards my current employers service any time soon.

install is free... we do not remove your line unless the home owner wants it down.

sorry install is not free if you go month to month:
taken off the fios website
"When you order Verizon FiOS, a Verizon professional will install your service. Installation is FREE for your primary computer if you sign up for a one year agreement, or the installation fee is $79.99 if you select a Month-to-Month plan. You will also be given the option of setting up additional computers during the initial installation for $89.99 each."

but 2MB up and 2MB down what is not to love?

so bassically 80 for the 1sty computer, more for each additional computer not to mention the cost of TV install...**** that, i had an install today for my company for digital TV service and the customer did NOT get charged an install fee at all.

that for data only... the fee is for 1 computer to be hooked up to the router. all install fees are waived if they sign up for 1 year or something... me thinks
