I'd been doing a lot of research into radar detectors and finally settled on one that got good reviews and remains affordable. My search led me to the Beltronics Vector 955 Radar Detector. This unit was tested against units costing twice and much such as the Valentine one and Beltronics STI (955's big brother). These two units cost upwards of 350 - 500 dollars. In a comparison by RadarTest.com of units under $200.00, the 955 came out on top. I paid $165.00 on ebay.

I have had it for a couple of months now and it has saved me on many occasions.

Use google, lots of info.

Beware, you get what u pay for, meaning, don't buy a cheap radar, spend extra $$$ its well worth it.

I've had Passport Escort for years, great radar. Valentine is also good.

Again: Search

Save your $ until you have $ for a V1, it's permanently upgradeable and it's the best on the market. $400

If you can afford $400 up front, you can sell the V1 whenever you need cash in the future because it holds its value like it was four $100 bills.

Get the passport 8500 x50. or V1. The passport just saved my ass in town again last night. I was driving home last night when I saw my radar ringing Ka like crazy. I can't even see the cops anywhere, so I drive extra safely slow at 25 Mph (speed limit in that area). Also made sure I stop for at least 3-5 seconds at a stop sign. Sure enough light flash behind my mirror, he pulled me over for no front plate. I could of sped down that road in like 30-40 easily if I didn't have a the radar. It could of been another speeding ticket.

ive also heard just for a reference.

you need to move your radars up on your windshield more when it is raining, reason being, supposedly the windsheild wipers will block signals from coming through.

that price range, you'll get quite a few false alarms. I have a Cobra (that i got off my friend for free... since he upgraded his to a v1) and it constantly says KA and there's like nothing in sight. sometimes i just wanna throw it out of the window...

honestly, like other people have said, just save for a V1, it holds its value and you can have it forever with the upgrades
i dont really see a use for the stupid ones with the cords
