Thumbs up Red Ring of Death

Just got a red ring of death and contact XBOX customer service. Great service they are sending out a shipping box and when the XBOX 360 comes back in 4-6 weeks ( pain in th @ss) it will be brand new with a 1 month Gold Xbox Live card. So to Microsoft and their customer service.

All of the Microsoft representatives trolling this site will be ecstatic to hear this.

What will you do during your non-XBox days?

Just remember... it's down the highway, not across the street.

Sucks that you got the Rings, but at least Microsoft is trying to take care of everyone with faulty XBox360s (to a certain degree).

If I get the Rings ::knocks on wood::, I'll put more time into my Wii.

Damn, this is like the 4th thread on this..

Xbox 360 owners rejoice (ring of death? look here) for example.

My xbox is currently being fixed for free also.. I'm just glad that their repaying the people that had theirs fixed before this was done.. that's a kick ass move on microsofts part.

My friend got the 'ring of death' a few months ago and microsoft refused to fix it for free. They wanted $140 to fix it. He had gotten it for xmas so it was only a few months old as well.

The free fix is a pretty new thing. Tell your friend to try again.

^^ He already sold it on ebay for like ~70ish dollars and bought a new one.

Looks like that guy landed himself a newly fixed 360 for 70 bucks. My buddy is going to be extremely upset about that.

its kinda an uneasy feeling knowing that ur Xbox 360 was sold to u wen the makers knew that the "red ring of death" is a very likely to happen to ur counsol.

As poor as the ps3 is doing, at least they made it solid. I played the RE5 demo and MSG demo and I think the those come out along with GT and FF13, Sony has a strong chance to be back on top

Dude, I waaaay have you beat. I got home from having surgery and passed out. When I woke up I convinced my girl to go get me Forza 2 since it had come out that day. She goes to wally world and picks one up for me, I pop it on, watch the demo, press start aaaaaaaaaaaand red ring. My 360 broke the day that I had surgery and the day that forza 2 came out right when I was about to play it for the first time. Burn.
For weeks leading up to my surgery I was happy as hell because forza was coming out the same day, which meant that I get to lay in bed for a week playing forza.

Idk man, for the first few months of it being out everyone I knew that had one couldn't play it because it froze all the time.. Not to mention I rarely saw one at any store that wasn't froze. Don't get me wrong, if I had the $3000 to buy a TV that made the ps3 worth it then I would be all over it, but for now I'm happy with my xbox. To be honest, I've even been playing my original xbox while my 360 is being repaired.

when socom comes out for ps3 i am going to take my dads from the condo so i can play it. I am a huge socom addict (atleast up until the 2nd one. I personally think that 3 and combined assault suck)

Not sure if it's just me, but every time I call XBOX Support, they are actually really helpful and satisfying compared to many other companies I've talked to (everything from cell phone companies to AOL [OMG! X_x] to insurance companies and even Sony [Not bad...but apparently they have an internal communication problem with each other]).

Though I've only had to call them three times, first time for registration and two other times to have my 360 serviced/confirmation. When the guy asked me about troubleshooting with the lights/power supply, I just told him I already done all that and explained it to him and he never bothered me about it again (heard some people were 'forced' to go through it anyways...). Though I do have an extended warranty, but my 360 was still repaired within it's original "first year of purchase" warranty...so hasn't really used it yet. The way I see it, within three years I'll buy another machine anyways...so what's $50 for approximately three years (1 original + 2 extended) of entertainment (plus benefit of doubt lol).

As for the PS3, my high school friend and co-worker has it with several games and controllers and we play it ever so often. The biggest gripe I have so far is the game selection and the multi-player (or rather online CO-OP) availability. Many times we have 3 to 4 people wanting to play a game competitively (ONLINE) but the game end up not supporting it or not available. With the ability to support 8 controllers (I think that is right...correct me if I'm wrong), it has rarely shown support for 4. We don't have problems with televisions as together we have several 32+" HDTV televisions and even larger ones to comfortable play the game. One of the biggest thing my PS3 friend owner complains about is how 360 games eventually comes to the PS3 like 6 months later, lol. So at the moment, I still prefer the 360 > PS3 at the moment despite some the faults (or former faults) that come with it. One questionable thing I do have is the lack of support for the original XBOX after the 360 came out (meanwhile, the PS2 still has several titles being pumped out for it). That means when the next Microsoft console come out, I better jump on the boat before the 360 is left for dead, lol.

are the new 360s that are in the stores now still susceptible to problems? Or have the problems been fixed coming from microsoft now?

The newer consoles should be updated to avoid the problems that the older models had, but even if you end up with a problem you still will have a 3 year factory warranty from date of purchase with proof of purchase.

Go getcha one and start having some 360 fun mang.
