hd tv's
I'm currently interested in purchasing a HDTV, i have been really looking into the Sharp Aquos 32" LC32D62U model. I was hoping to have some input from the community here on what there experience/knowledge with HDTV's, even some recommendations. I do not plan to really use it for the HDTV channels, to be honest i do plan on using it for playing my 360 and ps3 on

Monty, I would suggest taking a trip over the the AVS Forums and getting feedback there. You will find both a plethora of information in existing threads, as well as (mostly) experienced user feedback, and most probably a thread dedicated to that unit, or the line to which that unit comes from.

personally, i purchased a Samsung 4692 in January, and have been very pleased with the xbox360 on it. there are much better brands out there, and even a newer model of the one i bought, but Samsung is a very good middle of the road LCD HDTV and can be found for fairly cheap.

unless you are gonna hang it from the wall, why not get a slim fit DLP. I got a 46" samsung DLP (720p but they have 1080p available but i couldn't afford one at the time) and it is great for games and HD tv. I think that it looks exactly like an LCD for like half the price

06Si has a good point. Unless you're going to hang it on the wall, an LCD or Plasma is an expensive way to go. You can get a rear projection TV with DLP, or Sony's SXRD technology and it will look just as good as plasma or LCD to most eyes. If you're just going to put it on a stand or an entertainment center then I would suggest a rear projection, specifically a Sony SXRD. I was able to pick up a 50" for $2K
If you're using the TV mostly for gaming make sure you get something that has HDMI inputs for your PS3 and Blu Ray player. If you have a 360 Elite, you want those HDMI inputs too. |

I'd question the difference of 1080i and 1080p to the naked eye on a small 32". Also depends on how far you are sitting from the TV. Might not be able to tell much of a difference, but ive never actually looked before.
The reason you dont want a Plasma with gaming is the risk of screen burn in. Like if you go to a sports bar and on their screen you see an ESPN logo burnt in onto the screen, its cause they left ESPN on so long that the logo got burnt onto the screen. |

ehh i don't want to go bigger then 42", and thats pushing it for me cause i still live at home with the parents, got me my own basement room BOOYA!...it is not the biggest room in the house and it will go on this stand thinggy i got....
i thought about plasma but just like the car scene i am a total newb with technology....although i know i did hear when plasmas first came out there were alot of problems with the tv's burning out dead pixels or whatnot, but im sure after couple years that should have fixed that by now...unless im mistaken....
