Is the novelty of the iPhone wearing off for anyone else? I'm so tired of paying $20 for the internet and it leaves me with a phone with an MP3 player. I'm tempted to get rid of the iPhone and use my extra Nokia 6086.

But that's not a given yet. If I stay with the iPhone, what do you guys think of this case? How is the clip?

SENA CASES :: SENA MAGNETFLIPPER CASE FOR iPHONE

BTW: The magnet should be fine as the case is also listed on Apple' website and Sena is known for their products with iPod and iPhone.

iPhone hasn't gotten old for me and I lined up for it on the day it came out (I know, loser). It's just too user friendly. It does have some missing features that are in most phones that make me think that Apple are dumbasses though...

Meh, who am I kidding? Haha, it's a nice phone. I just want a case that has a good belt clip and one that isn't velcro as it wears out quick. Plus, it needs to cover the screen fully.

AT&T to cut the price of Apple’s new iPhone

AT&T to cut the price of Apple’s new iPhone
By Scott Moritz, writer

AT&T (T) is planning to put some extra shine on the even sleeker new Apple (AAPL) iPhone.

When the 3G iPhone is introduced this summer, AT&T, the exclusive U.S. iPhone sales partner with Apple, will cut the price by as much as $200, according to a person familiar with the strategy.

AT&T is preparing to subsidize $200 of the cost of a new iPhone, bringing the price down to $199 for customers who sign two-year contracts, the source says. Apple is expected to have two versions of the new iPhone, an 8-gigabit-memory and a 16-gigabit-memory model with price tags widely expected to be $399 and $499.

AT&T and Apple declined to comment.

At $200, the iPhone would be within reach of a much wider consumer market and give AT&T a strong magnet to pull lucrative customers away from rivals like Verizon Wireless (VZ), Sprint (S) and T-Mobile (DT). The $200 rebate or subsidy would be limited to AT&T customers and not available through Apple’s stores. The new iPhone sold by AT&T will likely be locked or programmed so buyers can’t take the cheaper iPhone to another phone service.

Subsidies of $100 to $200 are common in the U.S. phone market, where people buy their phones from their carriers. Lowering the consumer cost of the phone to win two-year subscribers is considered a small investment with a quick payoff. The average monthly wireless bill is around $50, so a phone company can recoup the phone’s cost in a matter of months.

The average iPhone user however, runs up a $100 tab each month due to the higher priced data and calling plan. This would give AT&T an even quicker payback on its $200 outlay. But AT&T doesn’t get to keep all the money it collects from its iPhone users. Unlike most other phonemakers (but like BlackBerry maker Research in Motion (RIMM)) Apple has a revenue-sharing arrangement that requires telcos like AT&T to pay somewhere between 9% and 25% of the money collected each month from iPhone users.

The new iPhone is expected to be released on the one-year anniversary of the original iPhone debut June 27 or thereabouts. A few weeks prior to that launch, Apple is planning to stop supplies of the older model iPhone, according to the source. This will help clear out inventory and stir up demand for the new device. It will also attempt to avoid the public relations pratfall Apple made when it cut the price of the iPhone without warning last year. To soothe the ire among people who bought the iPhone just before the sudden markdown, Apple issued store credits.

A few details about the new iPhone have also been confirmed by the source. The new iPhone will be 2.5 mm thinner than the 11.7 mm original. The iPhone will also have a GPS chip for navigation and other location-based services.

He can use ziphone to unlock the phone temporarly then when he gets back to the states he can restore it using iTunes and activate normally OR simply add an at&t SIM.

Must be a bad phone. My iPhone lasts me a good 2 days and i'm CONSTANTLY showing customer's youtube, emails, Safari etc on a daily basis.
i text to the UK and it didn't cost me anything. I double checked with at&t. they said as long as I stayed within my 250 texts I was fine.

I am hoping it will be a bit lighter, as my prada is half the weight......much easier for a girl who keeps everything in her pockets :)

OMG this is soooo irritating. I'm trying to Restore my iPhone but I can't get a decent connection to the server via iTunes. My internet connection is active, but iTunes can't find the server. And when it did once, I got Error 1602. Dear lord, strike down thy wrath on Steve Jobs and his feeble employees.

Its actually not that heavy. I can bet 75% of the weight is the screen anyway.

Esp because it was so slim and light, there were a lot of times that I freaked out thinking I left it somewhere when it was actually in my pocket.

Exclamation In-Store Repair/Return Questions

Ok, so I can't resolve the issue I'm having with the static and buzzing in my earpiece of my iPhone. My last option is to drive 122 miles each way to the nearest USA Apple store in Seattle and have them look at my unit.

Questions before I go down there:
1. Genius Bar - I was told to book an appointment with these guys because they can take a look at my iPhone and determine if I get a new one or not. What should I expect when dealing with these guys? Will they run diagnostics? My iPhone is Jailbreak'd to run on the FIDO network. Will they find out? If they do, it's over for me. I can Restore though... although I think there will still be remnants of the unlocking left in the system files?

2. Activation - My iPhone was never activated via iTunes because it was never used with AT&T/Cingular. I'm guessing this will raise suspicion as well, seeing as how an iPhone is essentially useless without a valid/active AT&T SIM card in use. The warranty doesn't depend on activation, as mentioned on the Apple site.

Someone in my same situation was already denied service because their subscription to AT&T service was not verified. Need To Partially Virginize For Apple Store Replacement

On the other hand, I've read other posts that they just walk in to an Apple Store and walk out with a new unit, no questions asked. Some have even brought in Jailbreak'd and heavily modded iPhones and were successful in getting a replacement.

I'm really lost and distraught.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hint*** email sjobs@apple.com withen 3 days you will recieve a call from executive service tell them what is the phone is doing, tell them you will not continue paying ATT till the phone is serviced, ask them to send the new one first, and give them your CC number they do not charge a penny to it........get the new one, and send back the old :)

Can the iPhone be used as an iPod without activating it? Or will it accept a prepaid AT&T SIM card without activation as well?
