that only goes with non-iphone users.

where are you getting your information? did you have the first iphone or are you just assuming?

EDIT: there IS an activation fee, but its $18. and you do have to renew your two year contract...
exactly! plus an additional $10 on your data plan, for GPS. which is kinda stupid, in my opinion.

Its called geotagging. It saves your location where the picture was taken.

I have a first gen too. It uses the same technology as the maps to pinpoint your location.

So, I want an iPhone and don't mind getting the 1st gen, but I need some advice. I found a phone on ebay Apple iPhone 1st Gen 8GB - eBay (item 230271647324 end time Jul-17-08 18:19:10 PDT) that looks good to me. But you hear horror stores of how people end up paying like $200 for a box. Does this look like a legit deal to you guys and is it a reasonable price?

It's not a bad price, although I suspect that it'll go up another $100 within the last few hours of the auction. The seller has a low rating, but he's been on eBay for years. Still, be cautious and use a credit card if you win. That will protect you.

I've watched 7-8 auctions over the last 2 days for a 1st gen iphone 8gig. Highest was around $425, lowest (with damage to the back of the phone) was $305. Most of them averaged to $350. Expect to pay that for awhile, maybe more especially since there are no more being made (supposedly).
