so what happens when 2g customers have to get warranty work done? say they have to replace the phone. Does that mean you get a 3G since they are not making the 2G's anymore?

wow, some people are just too lazy that they need a voice to tell them when to turn.

i'm happy with the GPS. as long as it shows where i am and the surrounding areas i'm good to go. i dont need a voice to tell me when to turn, unless i was driving rally.

i havent had the opportunity to play with the 3g yet, how is the gps? as for the tom tom thing, i just thought it was neat. I dont need navi anyway because my car already has it, and to be honest i think i have used it maybe ten times in the last year. That was because I was in a city I wasnt familiar with.

If you take it in for service, I am sure you will continue to get a refurb iphone. They will probably continue to do so for a long time because, and i am assuming here, the parts that may be used to fix the said broken device will cost less for them in comparison to giving out a brand new 3g iphone that they just spend $175 making. just my assumption here though.

its pretty good. i was in a parking lot and tracked myself. looked at my surroundings and it was almost the same spot as i was, it was was off by maybe a metre.

this phone saves me from buying a navi.

i heard that most gps can be off up to 10 meters or feet. either way thats still pretty good. This would be great on the lake. I bought the navi unit for the other features, not really the navi.

Ummm, I think it has more to do with safety. Have you ever seen some people try to drive and look at things other than the road at the same time? Some of them can't do it, and it's better to just have something/someone tell you the directions.

The hype deflates rather quickly. Just got mine yesterday, but I have yet to do anything new with it.

yea i figured that. I just mainly wanted the faster internet and if I ever needed gps, then at least I would have it. other than that, not really much excitement for me either, with exception of getting rid of this old samsung phone.

current iphone customers are eligible for updating no matter how long they've had the phone

At FULL price... and another fee. There is no $199 for current owners unless you are already up for contract renewal.

not true, i bought the first iphone in feb of this year, its been 5 months and i paid $299 for the 16g iphone, and if i wanted the 8g i could have paid $199. so unless contract renewal is eligible after 5 months, you're incorrect.

where are you getting your information? did you have the first iphone or are you just assuming?

EDIT: there IS an activation fee, but its $18. and you do have to renew your two year contract...
