If the iPhone produced images of that caliber. Being the price it is would be literally the steal of a century. no joke. That setup alone costs well into the $4k range lol.

i havent read all the replies but i did agree with those who were unimpressed. I went to the Apple store and played with the phone and I'll break it up as such:

Good Points:
1. cool design
2. light weight
3. feels good in your hand
4. very nice web browser
5. great music and video interface
6. the touch screen interface is neat (zooming in and out with two fingers)

Bad Points:
1. Where do I put my smartchip?? (which is a lifesafer for those who drop phones in the toilet)
2. If you like to text, FORGET IT! Its horrible and it took me like 20+ keystrokes to type "whats up". It will take all day to have a text convo and i dont know if anyone caught that AT&T has specific plans for the iPhone that all only include 200 SMS text messages; I use 200 texts in anywhere from 3-7 days.
3. Google maps is not GPS!
4. When the battery gets old and your cell life starts getting shorter you are gonna have to buy a whole new phone b/c you cant take the back off.
5. The voice plans are HORRIBLE; "$59.99 for 450 minutes, $79.99 for 900 minutes and $99.99 for 1,350 minutes. All plans include unlimited data (email and web), Visual Voicemail, 200 SMS text messages, roll over minutes and unlimited mobile-to-mobile." Notice nothing was said of free nights or weekends so im assuming that is total talk time!!!


If i were a salesman, my pitch would be something like: "This the most advanced iPod ever!"....................."oh, yea and you can dial phone numbers too"

Actually youll have to send your iPhone back to Apple to get the battery replaced for $86, after about 300-400 charge cycles.

By the time those charges are done, the 1stGen iPhone won't be worth fixing. It's just like all the iPods, if your iPod messes up, it'll be best to just buy a new one.

Do they offer insurance coverage for the iPhone? I know they don't for the BlackJack, which is rediculous and points out the obvious that, sooner or later, it'll be a brick.

There is unlimited nights and weekends except for the $59 plan. You get 5000 nights and weekends with the $59 plan.

It doesn't matter for me, I just added the $20 data plan to my existing family plan. That isn't a bad deal compared to the $39 media package they make you get sometimes with phones.

My base plan is 1350 minutes for $79.99 and I just added a whole lot to that plan, lol.

Oh no, I'll take your word for it. I don't even know how you go about activating a phone that a carrier itself doesn't sell. Can you just have it activated to any carrier? I looked into it and it doesn't list a specific carrier.. I'm so freakin lost.

I'll be keeping my palm treo for a good amount of time I'm sure, the only reason I've ever thought about getting a different phone was A) the rumor that if you bought the iPhone you got a year and a half of free service and B) my bills are retarded high. lol.
