Quick video editing program?

I have used vegas and premier in the past, but I just need a simple program to throw together a quick avi of my track video.

windows movie maker comes standard with xp, and vista. you most certainly have it on your pc and its a very simple program to use.

So I have another question, I have a straight avi file, but it is about 54MB, how can I compress it down, and what is that program people always use with the blue intro screens?
