I have Vista RC1 (Release Candidate 1) running on a work PC here. Pics below.

It's pretty slick, just showing some of the little tweaks they've made to the OS. But man, now with all this nonsense Windows Activation stuff, may look like I'd have to BUY this OS for a change :-X

I realize that Microsoft was falling behind on the "style" part of the OS as compared to Linux and Macs. But honestly, what is the purpose of having windows that shift sideways? Or having a little miniture window popup when you mouse over your tasks? I just dont see the point.

Atleast the style aspects of Linux are functional. Like the cube desktop, having your desktop rotate like a cube having how ever many sides you want. Looks cool but also servers a purpose as you can have as many desktops as you want and it is easy to switch between them.

Has anyone ever tried running Vista on a VM? Just wondering if there were any major issues...

Let me restate my question. Has anyone tried running Vista as a "virtual machine"? Also the boot loader for Vista is newer than XP, this would lead me to believe that XP must be install first...???

crazyj: You shouldn't have a problem with running vista as a VM as long as its supported by VMware. You shouldn't have to have WinXP installed prior to vista, you should be able to install it side by side or just format and boot from the install cd.

Yes, I run Vista as VM XP don't have to be install first or last In the end there still issue with Vista.

I still used Windows 2000, and run XP on VM

Think I could load Vista on a different harddrive from XP, and just boot whichever drive I felt like playing with atm? Second hard drive is blank, so none of my current programs etc should be affected, I wouldnt think... ideas?
