well I can start off and say that buying a camera on ebay is a rip off....
they sell crappy extra parts to pack it in and hide high margins. and those websites i gave give you professional reviews as well as many users... not unlike recommending someone to visit HID planet for an hid question.... ![]() |

i dont think he's looking for an expensive cam..
but looking at that "deal" first, i personally don't like cameras that use disposable batteries - expensive and don't last long. They also give you a no name brand, a no name sd card (not gonna be fast, but prob fine for your purposes), and a desk tripod which is completely useless. its not really intended for outdoor use, its to stick on a desk....since a desk is flat and stable as is, you dont need a tripod for that......... since the camera also can't let you select the iso speed your gonna be limited in the conditions that you can take a pic in, its gonna have to be fairly bright, but that will fit the normal conditions for a camera like that. for a p&s any camera is fine really. |

now a d40 is a whole different camera...very good!
at 6mp though its older technology... but a great start to adslr. since the body will only last you 2-3 years anyways, investing in lenses now that you can re use later with better slrs (or sell later) will be more helpful than having to toss a whole camrea. also has a rechargeable battery +1 and you can chose any settings you need + 1,000,000,000 once again though its a questionable memory card... 8thgenuser, can you clarify, i thought the D40 used CF cards? |

for a 10 megapixel, you should look at the D80 as it has a better sensor that can process 10 mp (the same thats in the professional grade D200) |
