Looking for an m4p to mp3 converter

So I finally brought it upon myself to buy a microSD card for my pearl, but I cannot for the life of me find a free program to convert protected m4p itunes files to something more usable, like an mp3 or even aac or aac+. Anyone help me out?

if you want to retain quality you need to burn to a CD (prefereably RW) and then rip it to MP3 using a program like CDex.

there are programs that can strip the protetion without having to burn to a CD, and then you can just do a straight MP3 conversion in iTunes. but such programs are illegal.

I use a program called NoteBurner to convert aac to mp3. This program is a virtual drive as well as a burner and also needs to be used with iTunes.

in iTunes, you can just choose the drive installed by NoteBurner as the burner and then all selected music will be burned on virtual disc and you can transfer to other player directly and do not need to rip back again.
