Sound Problems

on my computer when i click the sound device to change the volume manually none of the switches can be selectable it says no audio device. Ive tried everything but i cant seem to install the speakers. All wires are connected properly but idk what to do next. Any help?

Sounds like your sound card is cheesed. No audio device to me says make sure your sound card has drivers installed and is functioning. If you right-click your "my computer" icon and go to 'manage' then click on the 'device manager' in the left pane you should be able to expand the 'sound, video, and game controllers' on the right pane and see if you have any exclamation symbols or question marks on an 'unknown' or broken device. You should have some sort of sound controller on there somewhere.

Of course this is for a Windows machine......not sure what you are working with so I just made the assumption.

Check to make sure that your sound card appears in device manager. ^^Or what he said ^^

Thats the thing Im not sure what my sound cards name is. It doesnt say sound card anywhere though. Also i just upgraded to windows xp professional from the regular one.

Your sound card will have software installed with it. If you are not seeing that, maybe your card isn't installed right. Also, you should make sure you have up-to-date drivers for the card.
