For $500-$550 you will only be able to buy a Rebel Xt body. If you find a good enough price you actually mite be able to buy a 18-55mm lense with the body for a total of $550.

I got mine at bestbuy like a year and a half ago for $899. I know have a set of L lenses and I love the camera and anyone who tells you that you need more than 8 mp is nuts.

prices are always dropping. If you can wait a bit I'm sure the XTi will be that price next year.... Its funny, I just started looking at that cam today too.

it depends on which cyber-shot you have.. A friend of mine has a 10 mp cyber shot that takes great pics and has a nice little touch-screen feature.

I am curious though, I see the time-lapse pics that people are taking and I don't know of which cameras can do such a thing. Can the digital rebel? I need a new camera also, but I can't afford one at the moment. I just went to my local botanic gardens and took a whole lot of pics that came out terrible because I'm rocking the 5mp .

XT can do everything. You must get learned to use it though.

The search function works for the rest of the internet too

"What does “EOS” mean?

Canon’s line of autofocus-capable SLR cameras is sold under the name EOS. This stands for “electro-optical system” but is also meant to be a reference to Eos, a Greek goddess of the dawn. Some people pronounce it like the goddess (ee-oss) and others as separate letters (ee-oh-ess).

Note also that the company itself is Canon with one N. In its very early days it was named Kwanon, after the Buddhist goddess of mercy. However the company soon changed to Canon (a general law or principle)."

The XT has a fairly small LCD in terms of the cameras out there. You can get 2.5" screens on most digi cams now. However, what you have to remember, most dSLR's have picture information on a seperate b&w LCD (gameboy stylz), which can be found on the XT, just over the LCD.

The XTi and the Nikon cameras for example put the picture info on the top. A smaller LCD really doesn't mean much for an SLR. You shouldn't really be using the screen to take the picture, that's what the viewfinder is for. The whole point of an SLR is to get a more accurate view of what you are seeing with the viewfinder :)

what do you mean?

elaborate please

Also just to point out to others the one offered on http://www.bestpricecameras.com/prod...?prodid=713225
does not come with a lens. plus if they are offering a $200 gift instead of a lens on a $500 camera I would call scam.
