I had a lot of important information in them and all of a sudden they all got deleted! is there anyway to find them and restore all my lost bookmark favorites? it would be very helpful thank you. My recycle bin had nothing in it either nor did i empty is so something is very weird. -1 on the new Mozilla Firefox update it sucks, the old version before this one was great now this one is almost exactly like IE.

The same thing happened to me. A few people tried to help, but I couldn't get them back.

Check Getdataback out.

http://www.runtime.org/

I've personally used this many times and it's saved me. You'll need the appropriate version for the filesystem you're using.

if you installed the new firefox it might have gotten rid of them....so if you revert back to the old version they are still there...then export them....install the new firefox again....then import them

My guess is that you're using windows.

Click My Computer

Go to Tools>Folder Options

Select the tab that is called "View"

In Advance Settings Look for an entry that says "Show hidden files and folders", click Apply then OK.

Go to My Computer again and browse to this location.

C:\Documents and Settings\<win username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Note: <win username>= This is the username that you use to log in to that windows machine.

Normally you will have only one folder on that directory but maybe you will have more than one at least that what Im thinking.

Anyway inside those folders are two files that contains the book marks.

bookmarks.html
bookmarks.bak

Just open them with IE explorer or any web browser and check which one has the links that you are looking for.

Copy the file to your desktop then delete the following Mozilla directory

C:\Documents and Settings\<win username\Application Data\Mozilla\

After that just open Firefox again until a web pages appear, close it completely.

Take the file that you save in the Desktop make sure that the name is "bookmarks.html" and copy and paste it to ...

C:\Documents and Settings\<win username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<3igtow6m.default>\

Note: <3igtow6m.default> this folder name will be different in your computer so be aware.

Dont worry if windows ask you if you are sure that you want to overwrite "bookmarks.html" just click YES.

I hope that you understand all this crap.

1. Go to Google.
2. Search "porn".
3. Bookmark the first 100 sites.
4. Voila! You have all your bookmarks back and then some!

j/k

I live on the web and as such I've had this happen to be with firefox probably 4 or 5 times now. I did pretty much exactly what was described above and have recovered my data each time withoutt too much effort. which version of firefox are you running btw? I've haven't had this issue yet with 2.0.

If the question is for me, I use the latest Release build of 2.0.x on both of my O/S (OpenSuse 10.2 and WinXP)
