I got it also but haven't played it much. The combat is not what i expected, I guess I'm a traditionalist when it comes to FF. My goal is to beat it this year though but I am playing Zelda twilight princess and Dragon quest 1st. But I think the game will be real good.

it's alright. the story line was the most boring story for final fantasies yet i think. i tried to follow it for the first couple hours but ended up skipping every scene after that.
the gameplay on the otherhand, i think is fun. the only thing is it seems to be too easy to fill the entire board with all the characters. it should be harder to get all the skills. either way, i think it's better than 10 (and especialy 10-2). final fantasies have been going downhill since 8 i think. im just waiting for 13 to come out now

The story itself is fantastic. However, the character development is the worst of any I've ever played, they aren't really "likable" characters, and the world is so expansive, travel kidna sucks. I really miss the world map and the airships, like from Final Fantasy VII and VIII and IX.
The music is okay, but it's nto as good as when Nobuo Uematsu did it. The battle system is fun, and a nice change of pace, but I hope the next one goes back to turn based, but I know it won't, from what I've seen. The negative to it is that the plot is great, but its only intersperced after about 3-4 hours of grinding and running around, then you get like, a minute of plot. The Sphere Grid from X was better than the License Board, but the License Board can be fun. Overall, I'm enjoying it, but miss my classics like VII and VIII. |

I agree with you, Mike. No likable characters. All, just ho-hum. Music isn't up to par with previous games. Etc. Good review.
BUT, I personally think that 10 was the most fun game of the series. 7 and 8 were too easy and lacked that fun re-playability that X, 6, and 4 have. |

Yes, I agree about X, X was a great game.
However, VII, VIII, and IX had great characters, a good story, great music, fun battle systems, and the world map, which, in my eyes, is far better. I like traditional RPGs, and all the side quests. Side quests were actually side quests, and you knew they were side quests, not side quests intermixed with the actual story. I dunno, I still love pre-X as well. |

i have been playing 12 almost no stop since yesterday. i like the battle system it is alot like knights of the old republic. the story so far is alright. i am at the part in the story where you fight your first ester, he beat me down so i had to take a break and get on here for awhile. my favorite ff was 8, i loved that game.

I agree with most of that except 7. 7 was a masterpiece, hands down. There was so much extra challenges that really made the game. I don't know if you raised 150+mph golden chocobos, but if you do it makes a whole new game. FF7 was one where with patience, could change the game play after beating it a few times. Like raising materia levels high quickly, or using the tiny bronco to get chocobos and raise them to new colours pretty early. You could also complete Yufi's side quest early and get some great weapons. Anyways, I'm just saying that I think 3/6, 7 and 10 were my fav's. I've played them all, and while the card games in 8 and 9 were fun for a while, nothing amazing. X-2 sucked. Not even worth passing. |

Sorry for rehashing an old thread but I wanted to give an update. I dusted it off and started playing again about 3 1/2 weeks ago. I really like the combat system after I got an understanding of the gambit system and the liscence board. The graphics are very nice also.
As far as the plot I can't follow it to well. Maybe its the overly large words they use, the akward names of everything or the boring characters, I get tired head. The only character that I find entertaining is Balthier. However Fran has some coolness about her, kind of reminds me of Storm from the X-Men movies. A big gripe I have about the game is when you beat bosses, all you get is a big ******* grats. No I want items off of bosses without having to steal them or get them from combining items. Also even worse if you play the game without a guide, which I did for a long while, you will miss out on the best weapon in the game, the Zodiac spear. That weapon is unattainable if you open some random chests layed out across the game which you are never told not to open. And the "great crystal" zone makes me want to blow my brains out Overall I think it is the 3rd best Final Fantasy made. I rank the 2 that were on the Super NES and FF7 all above it. The plots in those were great as were the characters. I do give FF12 credit for going outside the box with the combat, I love the quickenings also, and the hunts are fun. FF10 was nice in the graphics department, however I did not like that there was no freedom to roam around. FFX-2 was the low point in my life. |

I still have to beat this game.
I'm at the capital and just beat Cid. Well, by "just" I mean about 5-6 months ago. It just isn't very interesting. With even a rudimentary understanding of the Gambit system, the game plays itself. RIP old Square that made IV,VI,VII and VIII. Someday i'll plug it back in and finish it off. |

Go To www.ign.com and there is a downloadable zip file of a nice guide. I printed off at work and thought it was about 50 pages. It turned out to be about 280 pages and it was very embarrassing and I was praying no manager would walk by an ask me what I was printing. I would have to tell them it was Ohio real estate regulations I wanted to brush up on.
A hurdle I had to cross just starting the game was I bought the game after owning a 360 for a year, having a wii and a ps3. So the graphics were poor to me initially. But since the ps3 doesn't make any games, I needed to have something to use the ps3 for. I had also traded my 360 in for a zune and my kids only play the wii, I needed something to kill time with |

if you want guides, go to www.gamefaqs.com - the best sites for all that stuff...
I'm excited to see Star Ocean 4 come out eventually....SO3 was really better than the FF series by far. |

I'm glad to see I'm not the only RPG gamer on this board <3.
