Ethernet Card Problem??

Ok, so there's a power outage at my house last night...and everything reboots like normal, well I go over to my computer to get on last night...about 2 hours later...and there is an Install Wizard up..so i'm like...WTF? and it says for an Ethernet..when u click install..it says that it needs a CD...I don't know if it's the CD from the Internet Provider, or the CD for the card in my computer...but anyways...I call my local cable people..and all the guy says is ..."You got a Bad Ethernet Card"..and he was like.."is that all sir?" I was pissed..cause he didn't elaborate about what the hell I can do to get it fixed...so my point to all this is..how do I know if it's my computer's ethernet card...or the modem's ethernet card? is there a way to search in your computer to find out if it's bad???

you need the driver for the ethernet card. or install a new one.

i have one with the driver brand new in box. just pay shipping and its yours.

the modem doesnt have an ethernet card....the modem isnt the problem.

pretty much what kind of puter do you have.

step 1 - unplug power to computer
step 2 - remove outer casing
step3 - literally pull the ethernet card out
step4 - put new ethernet card in
step5 - put casing back on
step6- plug in computer
step7- computer sees new hardware, uploads the driver from the cd.
step8- have a beer and download some porn.

it's a AMD Athlon, Hewlett Packard, it's about a year and half old..nothing special, just used it for gaming..so it's got a good video and sound card, and just ur basic things...
