Much of what is first installed on a computer from a name brand doesn't do much except for take up space and slow your computer down. Don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but I would almost bet that you paid too much for them to re-do your computer. Which steps did you do? And since FireDog has re-configured your computer to be like how it was when you first unpacked it from the box, is it as fast as you remember and faster than it was before? |

1. In the Windows Security Center in the Control Panel turn on automatic download and installation for updates. Unless the computer came with a third party security suite or firewall, turn on the Windows XP firewall. 2. Never open an e-mail attachment from someone you don't know. 3. Avoid opening an e-mail attachment from someone you know, unless you know exactly what the attachment is. The sender may be unaware that it contains a virus. 4. Youths are notorious for going to web sites they should not go to and clicking on things they should not click on. Also NEVER leave relatives unattended on your computer. I have repaired many computers after someone let a close relative use it. 5. NEVER click anywhere on pop-ups. 6. Do not download free screensavers or smiley faces. These free programs usually come with adware/spyware hidden in them. 7. Never visit porn or adult sites. Websites that show XXX pictures are full of adware and spyware. By just visiting these sites you will probably infect your computer. 8. Never visit sites that offer commercial software for you to download and use illegally. 9. Never visit game cheat sites, game hint sites, or software crack sites. Most of these type of sites are full of ways to infect your computer with adware. 10. Do NOT use file or music sharing software such as Kazaa. Most file sharing software is embedded with adware/spyware. 11. Many free downloadable games come with adware. Before downloading a game look for user reviews to see if it contains adware or spyware. |

It is a great tool to remove embedded spyware and virus. If you know how to use HijackThis, it is not hard to find these spyware and virus. It can easily remove. |

I agree with you except the "disable all" part. You would only uncheck the programs that you do not wanting starting up in the beginning. This and some RAM should solve your problem. Also depends on what type of operating system you are using. I am a computer science degree major here.
