Exclamation What program do you use to compress DVD's?!?!?!

I have been using DVD Shrink 3.2 but lately more and more DVD's won't burn. I have been looking for a new, free, easy to use program. Any suggestions?

You can't go wrong with AnyDVD running in the background and DVDShrink to compress/re-author

I am having the same problem more and more lately, I use DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink, but it seems like a lot of the newer movies won't copy, does anyone have any newer software?

There are as many as 2 updates a week with AnyDVD... if a movie doesn't work, you update and that's it. Name a movie you can't backup with AnyDVD and I'll try it here to prove myself it'll work.

1ClickDVD is the best!

I uses 1ClickDVD and many other copiers. 1ClickDVD is the easiest, friendliest and the most reliable software. It rated at the top for DVD copier. I have not had any trouble backup any DVD. It works great with DVD43 decrypter.

Where can I get a copy of these programs? It seems like there are a lot more steps than just using DVD Shrink.....but I need something because more and more DVDs aren't copying. Thanks for the help!

When the trial of AnyDVD finishes, just update it and you will get another trial.

Just two steps, really, Yo Nadz.

Use Fab Decrypter to rip the DVD to your HDD. Then open DVD Shrink, target the "DVD" folder created by Fab Decrypter, and burn the material to a new DVD (making any compression or deletion adjustments you may wish to in DVD Shrink).

(Clears throat: I officially denounce and do not condone the illegal copying of any DVD material. This should only be used for creating legal backups of your own purchased DVDs.)

I buy and support Hollywood. That way they keep making DVD's that actually look and sound good. Unlike burned copies.

Do you guys run 73 octane in your civics just to save money too?

I bought the movies, and copied it for backup and stored the original copies. The PQ and AQ of the burned copies are identical to the purchased version. The purchased version is burned copies. I give the DVD to my kids. For myself, I watch only HD-DVD and HD shows over HD CableCard.

Another advantage for the burned copies, it eliminates the entire junk from the beginning of the movie and its go directly to the movie.

The PQ and AQ are largely relying on your DVD player, A/V receiver and LCD/Plasma. If you drive a VW Rabbit, it would not matter what octane you use to run it!

Please, let's not start a debate about the legality or morality of copying DVDs. This thread was a question by a forum member on 'how to' not 'is it right'.

Now if the discussion is just about quality, then by all means, have at it.

It depends on the amount of compression you use. And, if you have a good transport, source material, and display device capable of actually showing the detail loss. Compressing a high bit-rate DVD down to the 75% range will show little loss of quality, if any. Compressing a already compressed stream (such as Showtime's Odessey 5 discs for example) will show a horrible amount of quality loss at the same compression ratio. Additionally, with DVD shrink you can choose what you actually burn. For example, you can choose only the title movie and be able to trim the lead in and credits (if you are okay with that). This can easily take discs that would otherwise be at 50% compression back up to 90% to 100% by using only the title movie. However, if the title movie itself is in the 6-7GB range, there is little you can do and will have to live with some form of compression.

Not if you use double layer discs. Seriously though.........DVD Fab Decrypter and DVD Shrink 3.2. I normally go out and rent movies..........and watch them at a later time (once). I haven't watched 1/2 the movies I've paid to rent...........but I'll watch them eventually. Nothing worse than renting a movie and then taking it back without having watched it. With burned DVD's, I personally don't notice a loss in quality due to compression. Looks just fine.........and DTS STILL sounds amazing

Top Rated DVD Burning Software!

Here are DVD burning softwares for 2007. Best DVD Burning Software! If you are worry about PQ, you should not be watching standard DVD in the first place. You should be watching the entire movies and shows in HD version. I cannot say AQ of HD is better than AQ of standard movies yet. It will be better eventually.

For me, I copied the kid's favorite movies and stored the purchased DVD. The copied version is easier to dispose and it costs less to dispose it.
